McCord accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl, so he won't be here next year. He has 2, possible 3 games left playing for Cuse.Has Kyle petitioned to get the year Day screwed him out of back?

Yeah, no thank you. Bring in a transfer or play Jakhari.

Clemson strategy only works if you get top 10 hs recruits.Coach said yesterday they were more interested in HS players than portal going forward. I got the feeling he isn’t looking to get a big time QB
He also said Jakhari could be a starter "some day." Didn't seem like a ringing endorsement for next year.Coach said yesterday they were more interested in HS players than portal going forward. I got the feeling he isn’t looking to get a big time QB
I think Fran wants every player to earn the starting spot so saying he's the guy now hurts that. He wants competition publicly even if he feels a certain way in private. He also said Jakhari could be a starter "some day." Didn't seem like a ringing endorsement for next year.
I don't understand how anyone can see a HS recruiting class with 30 incoming players and think "I think Cuse is going to big time players in the portal every year." Filling a quarter of your roster with freshman for 2025 is a development plan, not a win now plan.Coach said yesterday they were more interested in HS players than portal going forward. Fran was clear when he was hired that HS recruiting and developing guys over time is how you win here. We just needed the portal to help turn over the roster more and have a good first year. He still added a ton of HS guys last year, and I expect you'll see a lot more redshirt freshman and young sophomores playing next year. They're slowly taking over the two deep and on the field.I don't understand how anyone can see a HS recruiting class with 30 incoming players and think "I think Cuse is going to big time players in the portal every year." That's why I'm excited for the bowl game. Assuming quite a few good players sit out (McCord/OG for starters) you get the competition of the young guys making their case for next season. It essentially starts with the bowl.Fran was clear when he was hired that HS recruiting and developing guys over time is how you win here. The leadership part is fine. I just hope the plan was never to be him starting in 2025.I like having him around for leadership though. McCord mentioned Johnson Jr in an interview with Axe, saying how helpful he's been mentoring Jakhari as someone who's been around a lot of college football.

Feels like Williams is going to be the starter. Maybe Carney pushes him a little bit. I don't see Johnson Jr as starter quality. The leadership part is fine. I just hope the plan was never to be him starting in 2025.
Which is exactly the scenario it should be. Let Luke develop, MJ as backup, Jakhari as starter. Now that Jakhari is taking snaps with the 2s, and being lauded by Fran for his effort, my guess is that MJ Jr stays on the break glass in case of emergency list.
Linebacker and safety are huge portal needs. If you dig into the roster the portal needs aren’t as big as they were last year. WR, DL, OL, RB is crowded and returns nearly everyone. IMO you can always upgrade OL so a center and tackle are always on the table. As is a QB. IMO we can upgrade the CB position and we badly need linebackers. Like UD just mentioned the right 3-5 portal kids in key spots is all we need.
At LB we lose Wax, (Diggs) and Barron, I assume a kid or two to the portal. We have 1 HS kid committed. I think we need a starting MLB out of the portal.
True enough but we have a great many kids who got playing time this year. I think we are going to be a lot stronger than many think. Correct me if I am off base, but I don't remember when we have had so many good freshmen on the 2 deep, especially on defense.I don't understand how anyone can see a HS recruiting class with 30 incoming players and think "I think Cuse is going to big time players in the portal every year." Ah, that's been confirmed? I missed that. Now that Jakhari is taking snaps with the 2s
