This is purely anecdotal but it seems that most QBs that are gonna be really good are ready to start by their second year unless they're buried behind a star. Give him a year of strength and conditioning, acclimation to college, and spring practice, and he should be good to go. If he's not, I hope Fran recruits over him this off season. It would be nice to have QBs in the program that can be 2-3 year starters, so we don't have to rely on annual hired guns.

I mean -- hope you're right. But there's not really any information - anecdotal or otherwise - to make that claim, yet.

Not a "claim" just an opinion. We don't get that many composite 4 star anythings so I think it is a good bet.
Besides not that many KMs out there that Fran knew since childhood. Competition will be fierce for transfer QBs and VERY expensive.
We'll see soon enough.

Coach wants to be in the national championship conversation, so my hunch is that they will leverage every relationship they have to bring in another A list portal QB if possible.

In the short time we have watched Fran operate, there is nothing I've seen that suggests he will ever "roll with what we have" if he thinks we have a chance to land a difference maker at any position. He is openly talking about competing for NC. I think he will look into every and any opportunity to make the program better.

Winners never sleep. But, fortunately, they do wash.

On a related note, I’m curious to hear how Nunz is doing as QB coach. I haven’t heard his name mentioned this year.
It was Fran who got McCord to come to Syracuse.
Is Nunzio going to be back next year? Or was he a continuity guy during the transition to HCFB?

We need to decide what kind of program we are going to be in that position and what are philosophy is going to be going forward.

I disagree. Jakhari has a lot of raw talent. RS Sophmore year should be what we’re aiming for with him.

I think we need to be the kind of program that hits the portal hard every cycle, including at QB. This is the the best way to leverage Fran Brown's recruiting chops, IMO. We need playmakers, linemen, and depth. And we need to stack class after class after class to compete with the top of the ACC.

You can’t portal in an offensive line. There’s lots of evidence out there to suggest it doesn’t work.

And you can’t just rely on the portal. Otherwise, you end up like Florida St and end up with absolutely nothing a year after having it all.

We don't really have QBs. Our current backup has played very little and is a running QB. Our other backup is hurt. Yeah, there's Williams running scout team, but that's a big jump to go from scout to QB1. We got some high school QBs coming in, we just hand one the ball?

Plus there's the recruitment and portal angle - are you going to be able to get and keep guys with unknowns? Probably not.

Jump from rs freshman running scout team to QB1 is not that uncommon. As a matter of fact, anybody good leaves if recruited over with a portal player unless they get paid a lot to stay. Also, portal qb better be a 1 and done.

Jakhari is easily the best backup QB I’ve seen in warmups since DeVito. He’s got really nice touch on the ball and is consistently accurate. Now does that translate when he has a hand in his face? We’ll have to see.

No question. I go to the games quite early and I understand it’s warm ups but this kid can throw it and he is an athlete and not a small one. I know I would be more than okay with him at qb next year. If Nixon is OC I can’t imagine how many more schemes he could draw up with a dual threat qb

Fran wants to run the ball and without Kyle and most likely the kid from Georgia starting we will probably be much more run reliance than this year.
Nixon Hart Willis all good backs but lack homerun capability.
Will Laquint return?
The Frosh from Jersey has speed but he's raw.
Obviously I'm guessing but I like our WR room.
Think we are rolling with Jakari at QB and feel as if we are light on talent, especially speed at RB.
