JB can’t do this garbage with AG

We’ve seen Buddy be ice cold and catch absolute fire at a moments notice.

You can't make shots from the bench. You got a 37% three point shooter - you roll those dice for the fire every game, all game.

What did Buddy do to deserve all those minutes over Griffin?
Griffin is a better defender and rebounder.

So Griffin can sit when he sucks but Buddy can’t?
Agreed!!!!

Another thing I would rather see a player have an off night and take five shots and have an off night and take 12 or 13 so whatever
Exactly you know as an athlete when your off, do other things besides shoot if your going to stay out their, probably isn't easy when dad won't take you out. When I played baseball I knew if i was off every since probably little league, athletes especially at this level know and when you 1-8 PASS THE BALL!!

Who missed more shots?

Has half as many rebounds ?
Half as many steals ?

it’s not even close when you miss double-digit shots and don’t get rebounds or steals your plus minus is terrible
To another coach, maybe. JB plays the guys he trusts. It’s no surprise he went with Buddy over Griffin and Newton when none of them were playing particularly well. That can be due to experience, turnovers, nepotism, or all of the above.

I disagree with this, to a certain extent. If you're in the game, and you get a good, open look - you have to take the shot. You're often hurting the team if you don't. For the most part, I think Buddy does a decent job of getting his shots up within the flow of the offense (as opposed to Joe, who frequently appears to force shots - particularly early in the shot clock).

Having said that, Buddy's fadeaway jumper with 5:24 to play was a piss-poor, terrible shot. Thank goodness that Quincy was there for the offensive rebound and the put back - that was a huge play for us.

Ehh you’re more of a net negative if you aren’t trying to take shots at all. Most nights Buddy is going to eventually make a few even if he’s off. Griff was so passive on offense I get why someone would sit him.

Both Griff and Buddy were awful. I would have sat them both and rode with 2 frosh. Again though, Buddy is not sitting. Ever.
And you might have lost. We know with the way jb did it, we won the game. Kadray was in the game. So that leaves only one freshman unless you wanted to play one of the big men frosh. I doubt you did. So jb made the decision to play Buddy over a frosh in the last 5 minutes. I really don't know if that is such a big deal. Now, Buddy over Griff is a different question. Both were horrible today but Griff looked a bit disinterested. No doubt he was dismayed over his shooting. But there is another side of the floor he could have helped on. Overall, I don't really care. It isn't the issue that people are trying to make it here. We won. What Jb did at the end worked. Maybe anything he would have done would have worked. But we don't know for sure so my advice is to save the outrage and wait until we have something to get really upset with.

Back when we signed Buddy, I feared there would be some dissention on the team if the coach's son played the whole game when he couldn't hit water from a boat and someone else had to sit on the pine and watch it.

I never said it because I figured the board would light me up like a Christmas tree, but there it is, I've shared my fear.

Now hopefully it won't happen.

It appeared to me, that last years team were one of the closest that we have had.

Actually he had only one player that was playing at or above his game...Quincy. Buddy terrible Griffin terrible JG 3 not so good but played a good floor game Dole missed a ton of bunnies...and coa ch JB should pit his mask assortment over his eyes ears and mouth. Even though he’s a HOFer

Exactly anybody who is arguing that Buddy had a better performance than Alan is delusional
Don’t know why this is so hard for some to comprehend

Can I like this post four times? Honestly -- the issue with this board isn't that there isn't argument to be made to play Griff over Buddy or kadary for 25 instead of 18, etc. It's that people obsess on this stuff when the real answer is: who knows? The head coach has to make that call and the reality for JB is -- he can't win. Don't forget, had we not pressed, people would have complained for four days, but since we pressed, they just switch to the rotation.

Bottom line: there isn't a great answer. On one of our better rosters, Buddy doesn't play the minutes he does now. But with last year's roster and this year's roster, he's as solid an option as any. Griffin will be better but tonight was brutal. Buddy hustles his a$$ off, and that's what JB went with and it worked. It's not a mona lisa. Not a win JB is going to talk about for the next 20 years. But holy christ, the idea that he's an idiot for any of the rotation moves he made tonight is laughable.

Give the man grief over the offense we run or the recruiting and I'm with you. I'm not saying I'm going to absolutely crush him for either, but there is room to criticize. Wonder a bit about the rotation? I get it. But I literally saw a post with people upset we didn't play a backup big, when our bigs were the only reason we won the game. It's insane.

I would not be upset if you find a way to like my post 4 times.

Not saying he’s an idiot at all...but honestly it’s laughable to say playing 18 mins of Kadary was a good decision. We beat Northeastern by 6. This would be a loss against any semi decent team and would have been a blowout against a good team. The rotations have to be fixed or we will be losing games that we should not lose waiting for guys to start hitting shots

I had similar concerns. Buddy seems to be popular with his teammates, so I don’t think our worries about dissension will come to pass. However, I’m still concerned that Buddy will never get a hook in the way pretty much anyone else in the program might. So I hope he shoots the lights out in ACC play.

I thought Kadary was definitely a key in our playing well enough to get the win in the last 8 or 9 minutes or whatever. I'm with you. But JB is going to give Griffin or Joe or Buddy an opportunity to shrug off a bad start most nights because those things happen to good players. I love Kadary but he is still figuring some things out offensively as well. I mean, it's not like he made a shot tonight either.
