John and Fran need to go

Fran will be here next year but the shear ineptitude of this coaching staff recently is mind boggling. We lose one good player and the staff forgets how to coach? Yes, it was the QB, the most important position. Still does not explain the horrendous playcalling and personnel decisions. A good coach and staff does not look this lost.

Yes, I am venting. Just tired of SU football being a joke with zero national respect.

Any other smart comments? Jokes on us.

Eh. Like I said a couple weeks ago, it’s hard to fail at JMU. Their infrastructure is so damn good for a G6 team.

Not that Chesney is a bad coach, but I don’t know if we really understand just how good he is yet. At least not in terms of how he’ll do at the P4 level.
When he’s offered better jobs than SU there will be some justification. And soon.

I think if u take JMU to the playoff u are pretty good. They beat wash st today. Thats punching up .

There are so many coaching openings this year it would probably be better to wait till next year to get someone and new staff.

This is GRob bad. I remember watching those games saying how can this team be this bad.

Every coach since him I could put my orange colored glasses on and talk myself into thinking we had a chance but that is gone.

The next guy no learning on the job please
This is worse than GROB. We played better w Greg. I act went to ND 08 and we won.

Yep, it's a serious problem. And if self-preservation is something Fran values, he should be pushing Elijah to start looking for a job now.
Nixon is the one who needs to be gone , his lack of anything near an offense put the defense on an island with no way off all year after the Clemson game.

We played ND 9 times this century, We're 2-7. Consider yourself lucky you saw a winner. Like finding a pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow.

Won the Walt Reyes game in 2003. Won the Art Jones games in 2008.

Coach P: 1-0
Gerg: 1-1
HCSS: 0-1
Dino: 0-4
Fran: 0-1

ADJW needs to have a talk with Fran after the season and tell him you need to make some changes and a few would be -
1. ERob either gets demoted or he's gone.
2. Replace the OL coach.
3. Nixon needs to get his together like he did season one as they just gave him a nice bump in pay after last season as other schools we're looking at him as their next HC.
4. Someone that can develop QB's.

Ehh Georgia tech is ranked , Pittsburg will be ranked , Smu good this year , Notre dame is a title contender . Tennessee is ranked, Duke is good. The schedule was definitely tough though.
This is p4 football, you play ranked teams move on with this narrative. A competent qb and a dc that knows how to call plays gets 8-10 wins this year this schedule and the talent we have.

I don't disagree with any of those changes. But I'm not a fan of an AD mandating specific changes. I think that should be left to the head coach to identify issues and fix them. That's part of being a leader. And if Fran is unable to do that himself, I think it's fair to question if Fran has what it takes to be a successful head coach long term.

Bingo. Honestly, if Fran makes no major changes for next season on his staff (I'm talking coordinators, not the WR coach) then that should become a significant part of the calculus JW uses to determine if he gets a 4th year.

GA Tech vs. UCF
Vandy vs Florida
Kentucky vs Florida
Arizona vs Washington
Cal vs Washington

All of these were in 2023

There are probably many more
I think we are talking about two different things.
I looked this games up and none of that had any team scoring 70 points (unless I missed something).
What are you talking about?

AW needs to have Fran address the flaws and how he intends to correct them. The answers need to be specific and actionable.

We have exactly one QB in a room of 6 guys who can play. These are Fran’s recruits. He owns this problem.

Our D has been poor for 2 years. Fran owns this problem.

Our O has shown little ability to adapt when needed.

Losing Angeli was always going to be a problem. But a problem shouldn’t automatically become a disaster. Fran owes his boss an explanation and a credible solution.

This. Tired of being a doormat, being made fun of or being asked about how bad we are by my coworkers, friends, and family. I can’t stand fans who live in the northeast (or more specifically upstate NY) but root for ND, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Miami, etc. Then games like today happen and I can’t blame them as much, a Syracuse fan’s life is not for the faint of heart. I wouldn’t change it for the world but perception is reality. From a little girl at ND asking why Syracuse is so bad, to the entire stadium giving me sympathy looks walking the concourse, to BIG10 football fans at the bar pointing out how bad Cuse got beat, and all my coworkers/friends telling me how rough a game it was. I was at the game yesterday and had at least 10 people who were not wearing Syracuse stuff come up to me and say they were from Buffalo, Rochester, capital region, etc. If we ever want to get to the top, we need to dominate our state both in recruiting and winning fans over because fans = NIL base and ticket revenue base.

someone tell me a coach who is a better option that Fran that will come to cuse? I asked a question who will come here and I got 0 names. just throwing darts at a dart board and you guys know it’s not sticking.

You won't get much luck with that argument on this board because that is what people asked about Babers for years.

Don't go there. That is always the last gasp of a failing regime, and it has been asked during the final stages of every failed coach we have had. We are not at that point currently.

Fran is not getting fired. At the same time, there are legitimate questions surrounding the program. This is about more than the loss of Angeli and Fran needs to face and solve it. End of story.

Growing up in suburban Syracuse, I was a diehard SU fan since in the late 50's. As an SU student, I was so excited to root for my Orange as part of the SU community. Unfortunately, my student years coincided with the entire college football world passing Ben by. I sat on cold, wet concrete steps...often in puddles...in the midst of very small crowds. None of my friends went to games with me. Still, I didn't care. I bled Orange.

Yesterday was the first time in my life when I felt totally apathetic after a game. I hated that feeling.

I want Fran to succeed, because if he succeeds, so does SU. I don't care about DART, what "might" happen down the road, excuses about the QB room that Fran himself recruited, etc. The world doesn't want to hear about the labor pains; it just wants to see the baby.

Hoping for the best but expecting the staff to be held accountable for making that happen.

I don't know man, I didn't start the thread?

The entire thread is between people who want to fIrE fRaN nOW!!!! And people saying this year wasn’t acceptable but talk of getting rid of Fran is assine. As a result, I have no idea how you thought your comment added anything to the discussion - and it’s why you’re getting pushback.

Great post.

The eternal "then who will coach here?!" question has always been ridiculous. There are dozens of G6 and FCS head coaches, along with dozens more coordinators, who would punch their grandmother right in the face to coach at Syracuse.

Football head coaches are simple creatures. They crave money and advancement. Someone is going to go coach at Penn State, and LSU, and Virginia Tech, and Florida, etc., etc., etc. No one cares how the last guy was treated. They're all egomaniacs who think they're God's gift to football. ALL of them.
