John and Fran need to go

Not a bad name my only question is how good is his recruiting. We know he can coach guys up though.

IMO, the likes of Syracuse University (being a relatively small private and not a Flagship type) will always face an uphill battle in that regard. However, nowadays, with the pay for play being gifted to these extremely privileged individuals at P4 level schools, etc. can somewhat soften the blow.

I just want my question answered lol. I have had multiple people reply and 0 people answering the question by giving me legit names.

With all due respect, perhaps it is because your question is irrelevant for two reasons.

First and foremost, Fran isn't getting fired. 10 wins and a good QB who gets injured is the mother of all get out of jail free cards. Not to say that there aren't problems within the program, but the issue isn't "who else can we get?" but "how does Fran fix this thing?"

Second, you are thinking like a fan instead of an executive, or in this case an AD. In times of poor performance, the question is NEVER "who can we get that is better?" The question ALWAYS is "does this guy's performance merit him still being employed and being paid what we are paying him? Is he meeting the expectations we have for the program?"

Any AD worth his salt is confident enough in his own abilities to think that he can hire somebody to effectively replace a guy who no longer deserves to be employed. Hopefully, Fran is that guy but even if he is not in the long-term, it didn't mean that Dino deserved to be retained. That was the bigger picture.

Again, that is a topic for another day because Fran has at least next year (if not longer) to right the ship. I'm far more concerned with the steps he will take to make that happen than I am about totally hypothetical replacements.

This nails it ^^^^
Yesterday was a traumatic experience and something we never want to see repeated...ever.
No need to rehash the postmortem- better to just put it behind us and move on
However, legit questions and concerns are now blindingly illuminated re; this program. No way any team should death spiral the way this one has after losing a player, no matter who or at what position.
The coaching staff, HCFB included, needs a full reassessment in terms of performance. No excuses, no justifications
It's only year 2, but how Fran handles this off-season and the steps he takes moving forward, without fear or favor, will determine whether he survives or crumbles. We'll see if our HC is what we all hope and want him to be. JMHO

consider also our overall game stats would look much worse on paper if several teams hadn't call off the dogs early. had the IRISH the punitive desire yesterday the final score could have been 140-0. fran and program is getting pity played last few final quarters. rather humbling. and sad.

You realize UConn football is pretty good this year? They beat Duke and Mensah put up
much worse numbers than Angeli who had 416 yards in that game.
Mora is a good coach and runs a solid program. You do know though that their other losses are to Rice and Delaware?

Wake Forest is really small and manages to be more competitive than SU most years. We ought to be at least average among schools like Wake, Duke, Northwestern, SMU, Vanderbilt, BC, Pitt and Tulane. Far too often we are not.

Perhaps I missed someone mentioning Mora who's at UConn? But, I think he would take the SU job in a heartbeat and he has a track record of relative success. Now, he's currently 64, however, he appears to be a young 64. ;) The fact that he has made UConn serviceable and competitive when they have been trying to compete after being left without a chair and all the ensuing $$$ issues that creates, well, is quite impressive IMO.
He’s is a very good coach obviously but look at the schedule.

Yes they beat Duke.

Here is part of the burn for me...Fran was a defensive back coach and supposedly had defensive chops. I understand why the offense cratered. But the defense good lord. Just horrible. Wrong angles. Wrong gaps. Terrible tackling. No pass rush. No reason that the D should completely crater as well. That's on Fran. Erob or not, it's still on Fran. Head Coach has to manage his staff. Hasn't done that satisfactorily in my opinion. Not even close.

Thinking now we win 6 games with Angeli...maybe 7 if things clicked. Too many things wrong with the defense
But, would they have played this many freshmen if a bowl game was on the line?

Remind me when GROB won 10 games in a season and had a ranked team again?

This is a bad season, no doubt, but GROB’s best season was 4 wins. Hyperbole isn’t helping anyone right now, and if we can muster something against a bad BC team next week then this will match GROB’s best season.

Now until Fran digs himself out of this ditch, comparisons to Dino seem more reasonable.
GRob’s 2005 offense was better than what we have seen post-Clemson. Check the stats. The defense was MUCH better than this year’s.

Everyone says the coordinators need to go. Why, don’t they get time on the job to learn also? Do they have autonomy over who is on the team?

His actual record as a defensive coach isn't particularly impressive

I'm 2-3 in attended ND games (2003, 2005, 2008, 2018, 2022).

I'd like to get that up to .500 next year. But that's a whole lot to overcome in a year.
that's a pretty good record all things considered

Fran isn't going anywhere but he has lost most of the goodwill he gained last year. What concerns me is the culture. Going into this year, I was all aboard the DART train. I was confident that the culture was changing for the better. Even if we had a tough schedule and lost games, we would be competitive.

But the reality is that are not in the realm of being competitive with even mediocre teams. What i saw yesterday was a team with no fight, no heart and no desire to compete. A failing team culture. Believe me, I want Fran to succeed but he dug himself into a big hole this season. I don't see any easy fixes.

On one hand, I have a hard time getting terribly upset with the defensive performance and the torches and pitchforks out for EROB. The team was down 21-0 before the defense saw the field Saturday - if there was ever a game where I would mentally quit as a defensive player, that was it. However - the fact the team (or defense) has basically quit in every game post-Angeli injury is really concerning. I read that as a vote of no confidence to the entire coaching staff by the team, starting with Brown. Brown's not going anywhere - but he's gotta realize he doesn't just have to win the fans back, he needs to win the team back starting the moment the whistle blows to mercifully end the last game this season.

I keep up with Wake from time to time being not far from them - they are always undersized but also innovative like with their mesh handoff/pass thing they do. That is one way to be competitive.

It’s also a sign they can’t compete without those sorts of tricks and innovations. Like when Dino went with our run heavy offense following the loss of Schrader … only for Wake it wasn’t a situational adaptation, it was how they need to play every game.

We could do this as well but it’s pretty clear our AD wants us to compete with big boy programs with as equal talent as we can manage and similar schemes. That’s the track we are on. Agreed that those schools listed SHOULD be peer schools.

You say this without the context that the team was down 21-0 before the defense even got on the field ha. I'm not even sure I saw the starters playing on defense most of the game, I saw 3rd and 4th string guys cuz why not. Someone above said traumatic. It is for the staff that's all young and over their heads in this situation and the players.
