Johntay Cook in the portal

I wish the guys that hurt would have stayed. But I am not all that worked up about it. Really, they weren't that good. We can get guys wither from our frosh or from the portal to make up for it. After the year we all went through it is easy to be gloom and doom about anything and everything. But we can get a running back to do what Willis did. And we can get wr's to do what Gill and Cook did. We now have their money to spend.
To me it’s not about the individual players that leave this off season as it is turnover size, losing this many starters and expecting to build it back for 2026 that was supposed to be our year with a favorable schedule isn’t as good as it looked 6 months ago with a lot of our key starters we needed to try and get back gone.

People can keep making excuses and keep calling me a hater but this isn’t good even in the modern era. Losing athletes like this, just aren’t easily replaceable at Syracuse.I don’t care how rosie your scenario is.

I do agree, surprised this kid didn’t go in portal a month ago. Probably not a bad one year rental though
One, I hope my wife loves me half as much as you hate Fran Brown 😀

Two, I’m totally reserving judgment til post portal. This due kicked his best friend out and was going after a DC of a top five D during the season.

Three, I’ll take five Gill’s over a Cook. Kid has a ton of talent, but didn’t seem to care about the playbook or be consistent.

You plan on us playing in the playoffs next season and suddenly don't because we lost Willis, Gill and Cook? We only know what we lost so far. Soon, we will know what we gained. Plenty of time to worry after that point.

Not even playoffs but to get 8 wins I’d like to keep at least a returning starting reciever and one of Hornsby or Ross. Maybe Willis if he was priced right. And would of liked to see more guys who have been here 2-3 years that most likely won’t play next year at all go down to g5 and use those scholarships on some juco guys.

My understanding was that Angeli, Cook, Gill, and Willis had this offense humming to a point where we would have won 4-6 more games in Angeli was healthy. If Angeli will be healthy next year, why not run it back as an offense? I do not get chasing away all of our WRs/RBs. And if they left despite us wanting them, then things are more broken.

Well, I’m nervous. Seems like what little talent we had is heading for the hills. I am skeptical we can replace them because it just doesn’t seem like we have the funding to be a big boy program.

No. Just that would be the type of guy leaving who would have me very concerned.
Anyone else? If that is all we have, then the cupboard is bare.

I just think there is some immaturity in players assuming a new location will necessarily be better. But with more $$&, hard to criticize a move. Seems like the opposite can happen with coaches… we can get Portal Player X for some percentage $$$ of current Player Y. Maybe sometimes it is better to stick with what you know. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

I struggle to see a top program looking to poach Angeli given the nature of his injury, but I guess weirder things have happened. Lots of good QB’s in the portal and we’d likely represent a fairly appealing spot given the production we’ve gotten from McCord/pre-injury Angeli.

The only guy I’d be truly genuinely worried about losing should they leave this year is Samuel personally.

I’m not concerned about any one guy leaving. That’s the sport now.

I am concerned about a lot of productive guys leaving. We better have a TON of replacements lined up via the portal.

If not, there’s going to be a lot of excuse making about young players needing time to develop while we win 6 games max.

Remember, 2026 was the season where people said Brown would put it all together and really compete for the top of the conference. Last year was a “punt” even before it started. If the goalposts start getting moved that’s a bad sign.

Yup. After learning more less concerned here. Will leave it at that. However if Steve leaves then I’m jumping off a bridge.
I have completely mind crushed that possibility.
