It's a completely overplayed point anyway. The NBA largely drafts on measurables and athleticism and potential and offensive skill sets more than anything. They aren't overlooking a kid because he potentially won't have their man to man rotations down right away.

There is truth to this for sure but that perception/stigma IS out there. That is a fact. That I know and I bet opposing coaches negatively recruit that issue. Besides, many high school prospects, especially the elite ones, just don't want to play all zone. Richards, Quinerly, and many others have expressed that. It is what it is like it or not.

It seems like a perception that would be fairly easy to shut down though, just by the facts of how many of our players have been getting drafted...some of whom weren't even that great of college players yet.

It's basically common sense to think Tucker would play right away but JB doesn't seem to be the type to promise things, you have to earn your time and show what you can do when you step on campus and I'm all for that but if anything the GT fan says is true Tucker seems to want guaranteed time, Pastner on the other hand seems to put emphasis on this subject but he really doesn't have much to lose.

What's more "guaranteed " than the 3 at SU? This is another narrative that's way overblown. Most of the best coaches approach these scenarios in the same way, imo. If you're good enough you play. I'd like to hear more on the coaches who give their word of guaranteed pt. vs the ones that insinuate it, if that's the case.

How many more players would have been drafted out of Syracuse in the last decade if we played 100% man? Zero point zero. JT has a better chance of getting to the league and getting there faster if he signs with cuse. That's it. That's the fact. The down side is he will be further from his family while in college and he will have to wait until he is an NBA player to meet rappers. The ball is in his court.

Since you posted twice that there are many prospects who have expressed this, and it is what it is, would be you be willing to provide a list of 10 players who have shared this and it's been documented in an article, tweet, etc.?

Francis is better equipped to come up with your required list of bodies much faster than I can. They are out there. I'll get on it posthaste, lol.

My sources tell me that Jordan Tucker will commit to either Syracuse, Oregon, Georgia Tech, or some other school. I have a strong feeling about this, and I am almost never wrong.

Believing he should pick Su over Gt isn't elitism, its just common sense. My buddy who is a Gt alum said he would pick Syracuse over Gt if he was a bball player.

This is getting really played out. You, and others act like Syracuse is full of supermodels ready to go home with you. Take your pick, or hell, you can have them all. GaTech is just the lone girl at the end of a night out that you settle with.

I think the bottom line is most people want us to get a shooter and a guard who can play the point. I agree, those are obviously are primary needs. People also want us to go the 5th year route outside of Ayala and Tucker so we don't burn a 2018 scholarship. Again, logical. I view Carter as the best high school option if we don't get Ayala and Tucker. If someone has a better high school option, I think all of us are all ears.

Here are a few realistic scenarios: 1) Tucker, Carter, grad transfer PG
2) Carter, grad transfer PG, Dolezaj
3) Ayala, Tucker, open scholarship
4) Ayala, Dolezaj, open scholarship
5) Carter, grad transfer of some sort

I don't know why I typed those scenarios. Just trying to figure out what could unfold. I'm guessing the Tucker decision comes first, hopefully in the next three weeks or so.
How about a nice game of chess?

I get that but what if we don't get Tucker and or/ Ayala? I'm pretty sure we are only taking one grad transfer, so we'd need one high school kid. (Unless we go grad transfer and Dolezaj)
We're doomed!!!!!

We had a chess tournament in 4th grade. I had saved the 4 move checkmate untill the final round. Everyone was ready for a long game against the two surviving players. I won in four moves and my teacher was livid. He was trying to tell me it wasn't in the spirit of the competition. I didn't get it. I told him the other kid had 3 turns to make any number of moves to stop it. I played sports and games against my older brother and very competitive father. I learned to never pass up an opertunity or they would crush me. It really turned me off to chess.

Yeah, what kind of BS is that? I can't believe your teacher was trying to diminish your accomplishment. What the hell kind of lesson does that teach?

This kid is not ordinary, because of his father he has been given a lot of opportunities that ones can dream of, I'm not saying that is the case here but this has been the case for similar type recruits over the years, they want to feel the love. Pastner relates to recruits with ease, these kids aren't going to GT to wear their Russell gear, they want to play for Pastner who has always been able to recruit wherever he goes. If you want to believe that Syracuse is in a position to push kids into the NBA because of the past then you can and it for sure matters but you have to recruit the personnel that have next level attributes, our system benefits players due to the coaching of a legend and the amount of time these kids play for Cuse. For all of the potential issues the zone creates in terms of recruiting it makes up for it stamina wise and we regularly can play guys for the full game or in the 35-39 range. I would think JT knows he will get regular time but who knows this kids mindset, maybe he's nervous that his potential PG is Frank Howard (who wouldn't?).

Come on. Tucker and Tech communicated what was going on. It's not like they said thanks but no thanks, hit the bricks to him.

You and others would absolutely murder the SU staff if they did this and assume that there was absolutely zero communication between them and the recruit.

Huh? Why would I be upset with our staff if one of our recruits cancelled a visit and it didn't impact his decision?

And don't get me wrong, I agree with you that this is not a huge deal, but people here have looked for every reason to crush our coaches for everything they can paint as malpractice. You have had your role in that.

I'm fair in general. The staff has taken some odd approaches and there's been a need to call them out at times. I don't "look" to crush them. I am critical when warranted. I've also given them huge credit for finding guys I love like Moyer and especially Sidibe, who I think is a steal.

I like you, HoustonCuse but if you don't like my point of view or don't think I bring value, feel free to block me. Again, I'm not a basher of this staff. That is a ludicrous contention, given my posting history.

So you like GMac recruits? ;)

Yep. Love those guys and pointed out on numerous occasions they were primarily G-Mac recruits. (Sidibe was mainly G-Mac with some Hop mixed in)

Made me think of this:
