Judah Mintz to test NBA Draft waters

How many from this list still haven’t announced?
Pretty sure were still waiting on everyone except Mccullar. Seems consensus that Sensabaugh is staying in as hes a likely lottery pick but the others have not put anything out there from what ive seen. most of the ones were seeing announce now are guys that really had no shot at the NBA. I would think that a lot of the ones listed here have workouts all the way through tomorrow and will decide right around the deadline, including Judah.

Oddly the only workout there is anything on social media about for Judah is Charlotte

I was thinking the same thing but then was thinking that most of the workouts are in the next three weeks, pretty much after the deadline. I think most teams believe they have enough tape on these guys and saw them at the combine to let them know if they are a potential draft pick.

The next month will skinny down the guys based on more interviews and workouts.

Judah has played against enough guys and has gotten enough feedback to hopefully make an intelligent decision either way.

Let's hope. This plays right into how some of these kids don't get great advice.. stay in and then the post deadline workouts don't bear the fruit hoped or the second round does its normal song and dance with trades, stash picks etc.

Yes, but even the wrong decision could still lend itself to a ten year career making six figures overseas. Trust the process and trust yourself. No ideas if Judah is even a future NBA rotation player, but he has enough skills that he should get a good hard look from someone.

Of course - it's all risk/reward. With that said this position, and this isn't a criticism, just further presses on college basketball having no valid purpose in the context of playing professional basketball. The top 200 or so players should find their way to the developmental stops and the rest can pursue playing amateur basketball while getting their degree

Judah has had about 8 workouts. Just bc they’ve not been posted doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. His family ( his dad is an Attorney) and representatives are on top of things and will give him excellent advice. He will make an intelligent decision that’s best for him.

Judah will be playing in the nba this season or next for certain. It’s just a matter of where he gets picked. Unfortunately he’s not as sexy as some of the projected first round guys, despite having comparable or even better stats. Keep in mind he was 3rd leading scorer of all freshman at 16.3 ppg. Brandon Milller and Bryce Sensabaugh were 1 and 2.

Appreciate you coming on and setting the record straight.

I don't expect you to discuss where he might be leaning now but was hoping you might be able to comment on a timeline for the decision.

Amazing info... Thank you for visiting. It might be clear from the 100 pages of sweating his decision, but we love Judah and hope he comes back or we hope he does great in the pros.

Yep we don't know much but we do know that the only hope is he succeeds at whatever is next here or the NBA.

If he does find going now is best I also look forward to the incredibly warm welcome and appreciation he will see from the orange family when he gets a chance to come back and visit someday. And of course there will be multiple threads I'm sure on here cheering on and tracking his progress.

Djurisic’s game caught Syracuse’s Judah Mintz off guard a bit. Mintz, who could be another potential candidate to be nabbed by Charlotte in the second round, was part of the six-man group dripped in sweat after their crash course through the Hornets’ drills.

“Going against him is easier than playing with him,” Mintz said. “You don’t really know what guys like to do. I really didn’t know what Nikola liked. I thought he was a big when I first got here. Then he started shooting, then he started doing pick-and-rolls. So, it’s a little difficult finding out how to play with guys during a 50-minute, 70-minute stretch. But it’s fun and you get better as a player.”

Mintz, a 6-foot-3, 172-pound combo guard, fared well in his lone season in upstate New York under the tutelage of now-retired longtime coach Jim Boeheim. Named to the ACC’s all-freshman team, he was eighth in the conference at 16.3 points per game, fifth in assists (4.6) and finished tops with 59 steals. He also proved he can get to the free-throw line consistently, ranking third in the league with 139 makes.

There were some question marks about whether Mintz will keep his name in the draft beyond Wednesday’s 11:59 p.m. deadline for upperclassmen to withdraw and maintain college eligibility. But it doesn’t sound like Mintz is considering going back to suit up for the Orange again, instead relishing the chance to showcase himself in front of the Hornets’ talent evaluators.

“I’ve got a few days to make a clear-cut decision,” Mintz said. “I really feel like my freshman year kind of spoke for itself. Obviously, it got me in this position right now. I can compete, I can hang around these dudes, especially at the combine, being able to play and prove my worth has been great for me.

“It’s a crazy opportunity. Everybody has a dream to be here. So, for me to actually get here and play in front of people like that is just a dream come true.

I mean, tomorrow's the deadline. Timeline seems pretty clear.

He's gone. His mom's (or sibling's) posts made that pretty clear. "He will certainly be playing in the NBA this year or next."

And Judah said in that quote, "My freshman year speaks for itself." I take that to mean "my work is done here".

Yes, everyone knows the deadline is tomorrow night.

I would like to know if the answer is coming this morning, this afternoon, tomorrow morning, etc.

It would be great to know there is no reason to check this thread for 12 hours, 24 hours, etc.

Certainly could read the tea leaves here I believe. Curious if staff is legit done via the portal or if given Ty Laur is gone they would bring in a grad txfr if Judah announces NBA

It feels like this thread has been a marathon. I missed a couple of days recently - actually in Syracuse on Sunday! Getting back to the thread this morning I faced 6 to 8 pages of posts. The end is near and recent post from Mintz "friendly" seems to indicate he is leaving. Good luck Judah.
