Just like last year

bees is right. if you had to sit next to the pretentious front running poser duke fans that I sat next to, and listen to them question why we recruited k joseph you would be singing a different tune

I'd rather sit next to that than have to sit next to the johnny jerkoff SU fan who sat next to me who literally complained from tipoff to the buzzer about how we dont use our players right, how our coaching staff sucks and every other thing he pissed and moaned about. I wanted to kill this kid and he was an SU fan. Plus he got up at least 5 times to go buy beer which by the 5th time I almost threw him off the upper level.

Here is the thing, would an SU fan pay $500 for 2 tickets? Hell no. Would a Duke fan? Sure they would. Given the way this season has gone and how crappy the weather was that night I dont care if some SU ticket holder grabbed a little coin. And neither should anyone else.

Its always something here.

Had to be Blue Curtain, right?

Take the act of selling seats to opposing fans to it's exaggerated conclusion - if every SU fan did this, the Dome would be a sea of blue for Duke games. You cool with this? If not, you can't defend isolated incidents of it. It's actively hindering the competitive home court advantage of the team you claim to root for.

The idea of using season tickets as a way to make an extra buck seems counter to what it means to be a "fan" (fanatic). Fans want to be at the big games. Thank god we don't play in a smaller gym.

Why jump from a few tickets being sold to opposing teams, to every person in the Dome?

I'm pretty sure that if $50 erases any loyalties you might have to SU, and any consideration you might have for other (real) SU fans sitting nearby, you aren't a fan, Shawn. So I'll ask again, why are you here?

If sitting next to or near an opposing fan makes you Lee in your pants and cry a lonely cry, you have bigger issues. Put on your big boy pants. Still telling people what they should and shouldn't do, and who is and is not a fan I see

Not every SU fan is a perfect STH seat-mate, Marsh. But peddling tickets to rival fans to make money diminishes the home-court advantage and subjects the nearby seat-holders to rival jeering the whole game. It's not the end of the world -- but it's not desirable either.

Last year, some of our "loyal" SU STH-fans sold their FB seats to Clemmies for the November 14th game. We weren't having the best season, for sure. So, as an SU fan, not only was it stressful to watch the team struggle, I had to suffer a bunch of drunken idiots trash-talking for 3 hours. They were shouting that SU "looked like a HS team", etc, etc. Really -- it was no fun.

So .. to the people that sold out to Clemson, thanks a bunch ... I hope the extra cash was worth the misery of me having to sit next to the people you sold to.

Obviously, you don't belong here. Get a second job if you're income is so lacking you need to peddle SU tickets to get by -- most SU fans don't want to sit next to the people you sell out to.

Because it illustrates the bigger point. If you're cool with one person doing it, you're cool with everyone doing it. If you disagree, tell me what's the magic acceptable number - 5K? 10K? You want some people to be able to do it but not "most"? Can't pick and choose.

There's that elitist b.s. you spew. You do enjoy telling people what they can do, and where they can go. No need for a second job with Duke fans paying as much as they do.

Lol, that pretty much sums you up. Petty scalper.

I hear ya but I had a few Duke fans around us and they were fine. They cheered when they were doing well and were not at all idiots just spewing stuff.

And with 35,000 fans it does not diminish the home court advantage whatsoever. I mean if you put 10-15 Duke fans scattered in each section you are talking maybe 750 total fans. Thats about 2% of the Dome. Given how loud it was that is completely irrelevant. Its not like these people had a sign they held up saying "Looking to get rid of 2...Duke fans only".

SU fans are also cheap as hell. They are not paying for a game like this. Beer goes up $.50 and its like they called their mother whore. Hell I knew about 30 people who said screw it I am staying home because I dont want to deal with the weather and the crowds and would rather watch it on TV. I was almost one of them to be honest with you. Does that make me a bad fan if I did? I could really care less if it does. I know how I feel about the program and have supported it for decades. Until they start giving discounts off of the season tickets based on "how big of a fan are you" then I could give a crap.

And that is what this thread is really about. Where you rank on the SU fan list lets be honest. Its not about selling tix to Duke fans.

Actually you can pick and choose, it only requires the ability to think in terms beyond all or nothing. I do however concede that if every person in the Dome sold their tickets to Duke fans, it would be a problem.

The actual number of Duke fans amongst the 35000+ fans at the game was so underwhelming that I find this thread to be utterly insane and laughable.

I don't give a s.hit what someone does with their tickets, because, yanno it's their ticket

Doesn't seem to make much sense to be a fan of a school where you have no regional / emotional / academic ties. Everyone lives near some school - root for them if you didn't go there.

But again I don't understand Cowboy fans either.

I don't want to get much in to this whole thread, but this is what it really boils down to for me. I grew up in Syracuse and live in Rochester now. I cherish in the fact that I live 90 minutes away from a national powerhouse basketball program that isn't part of a large state school. I love that I can be across the country and tell someone I grew up in the little city of Syracuse and they'll know about Syracuse because of our sports. LOVE it. I just don't understand how you can live within a couple hour radius from Syracuse and NOT be an Orange fan.

I have season tickets in 306 and a guy behind me that I haven't seen all season was dressed in full Duke gear sitting with another guy in a UNC jersey of all things. The guy in the Duke gear was hating on Syracuse before tip-off and I finally turned around and asked him (politely) why he's a Duke fan. The guy was in his late 20's, grew up in Albany, still lives in Albany, doesn't know why but grew up rooting for Duke, and also grew up "hating" Syracuse. That's the kinda stuff that really puzzles me and honestly does bother me a little. I just don't get it. You live a few hours away from the mothership and you not only choose to support Duke, but you also develop some HATE for Syracuse? What is there to hate about Syracuse?

I was really hoping for a better result so this clown and his friend in a UNC jersey wouldn't get the last laugh, but it wasn't meant to be.

Cool. So you'd be OK if the Dome was full of Duke fans. Got it.

Or you want to be able to do it, just not everyone else?

Again, your little game of "a Dome full of Duke fans" doesn't work, because there will not be 35,000 Duke fans

You do not have to get it. It really is not any of your concern.
