Kenny went to a final four, got picked #2, and made his family happy - can’t really blame the guy, lol.

But yeah, Kenny-Billy-DC would’ve been an absurd amount of talent. That’s 3 top 3 picks.

Our "other guys" would have been Stevie Thompson, David Johnson, LeRon Ellis, Richard Manning and Tony Scott...not too shabby.

Definitely can’t blame the kid. The idea that kids who were desperate for money and to help their families are/were at fault when Universities wouldn’t/couldn’t follow the rules is sad.

That’s one thing that baseball has done better than hoops. Rather than send your “minor leaguers” who have no interest in attending school to college, they have professional teams where they can go get paid and work their way up the ranks.

College athletics should be played by kids interested in getting an education, not kids who have to go because it’s the only viable path to their desired professional athletic career.

SU wasn't exactly following the rules either at that point in time. Ga Tech apparently had a higher salary cap.

And yet... if a kid tries to do it exactly that way, they get ROASTED on here. Flippin' burgers!

If you've watched The Tournament on ACC network you saw that GTech had some great teams around the Kenny Anderson time. Some of the others on those teams were great players in their own right.

They get roasted here because in basketball it’s the exception, rather than the rule, that the exceptional players who want to get their real value can avoid attending college first. Basketball funnels kids through amateur development in college rather than a baseball like minor league system.

D-1 college is the NBA AA minor league and players need not have any interest in an education. Smart money saving move by the NBA.

In some ways smart, in some ways not. The players aren't facing the same level of competion in college as they would see if all of the players they were playing with and against were professional prospects and if the top players (true pro prospects) were concentrated on fewer teams rather than spread out across all of D-1 college basketball.

That is why D1 is AA and not AAA. Rest of college is A. G league is AAA.

to me the BIG difference between kenny anderson and stephon marbury is the fact that dooshberry publicly announced every chance given that he was coming to syracuse and drove off every other recruit we had a chance at. by the time the dust settled we had laz sims. kenny didn't pull the carpet out. marbury screwed us.
