KingJoseph Edwards "not" in the portal

Sometimes people want to focus too much on the more enjoyable/fulfilling extracurricular stuff and neglect the more mundane necessary stuff. Doing the charitable stuff is great and all, but when mom and dad stop footing the bill for food, clothes, and shelter, you've gotta be able to do that on your own. That may mean stepping back from the secondary stuff for now so you can focus on the primary stuff that permits the secondary stuff.
That's basically what I wanted to convey with my post, but you said it much better than I did.

My favorite was joking about punting from the opponent's 32 yard line, and then we actually did it.

And by favorite I mean I went and stood in the corner of a room, facing the walls, and questioned a lot of things about who I am and how I spend my time.

It didn't change anything. But it probably didn't look good.
That point led to a post of mine in the game thread that got me my one and only "vacation" from this site.
I still maintain I was wronged.

This seems aggressive. If Fran Brown eventually comes to a place where he would like him back, I think as fans we should as well. He seems like a generally decent kid and an asset to the community.
Yep. If this is a case of the dude not taking care of his business and this is a wake up call for him, there's no reason to not let him come back. Give a guy a chance to learn and grow.

Maybe it's a JUCO for a year???

that’s the first thing I thought of when I read that yesterday. If it was a big school the post would have had more energy. This I going to be a huge downgrade for the kid. Hopefully he figures it out and gets his life back on track.

I would assume Fran gave him a to-do list for the fall semester, and if he DARTs that list the door is open for him to rejoin the team in the spring.

Hopefully he is still enrolled and taking classes (at least somewhere) - that’s the most important thing.

Hope he gets his ducks sorted and lined-up for a big return next year...

Something like this makes me concerned. You make your biggest jump from freshman to sophomore year. Missing out on a ton of development. Is he training. Is he getting the right training? Just a tough time to fall behind from a football standpoint.

You can't do what's best for others if you aren't the best version of yourself first. Hopefully he gets there.
When you use absolutes such as "can't" and "best," it sounds like wisdom, but to me it comes across as judgmental. It seems dismissive and lacks appreciation of intent and room for (continued) growth. Maybe you are going after a more nuanced take on this situation, and maybe you know more about what's really happening (or happened). Still, there is little reason that one would be unable to "do good" for others while recognizing that they are still an unfinished product themselves. Otherwise we lose sight of who we want to be and why it matters.

And yes, I admit that I may be way off base in this situation as I don't know the details. For his sake, I hope he is soon able to look in the mirror and like both who and what he sees staring back at him. I believe that would be him finding "the best version" of himself, as you stated.

He’s ethier waiting for the winter portal or he is planning on joining the team next year and is getting his stuff handled he needs to do. No in between

Wow...please see the post immediately preceding yours.

bnoro was at least trying to say/see what may be in KJE's mind and how he might move forward. I truly think he is "pro-KJE," as it were, despite my objections as to how it was stated.

Your statement is actually ridiculous in its oversimplification. But for me, the greatest offence with your statement is that you only seem to care about the direction of KJE's life as it pertains to football. This results in a reduction of his relevance, or value in your eyes as to what he can or may do for you, and not what is best for KJE.

In situations like this, where getting his life in order (whatever that may mean), outweighs what happens on the football field: Support the person, first. Then the team.
