KingJoseph Edwards "not" in the portal

When you use absolutes such as "can't" and "best," it sounds like wisdom, but to me it comes across as judgmental. It seems dismissive and lacks appreciation of intent and room for (continued) growth. Maybe you are going after a more nuanced take on this situation, and maybe you know more about what's really happening (or happened). Still, there is little reason that one would be unable to "do good" for others while recognizing that they are still an unfinished product themselves. Otherwise we lose sight of who we want to be and why it matters.

And yes, I admit that I may be way off base in this situation as I don't know the details. For his sake, I hope he is soon able to look in the mirror and like both who and what he sees staring back at him. I believe that would be him finding "the best version" of himself, as you stated.
Yeah you're completely misreading what I'm saying here.

I don't have any inside info, but sometimes people are so focused on everything else they lose sight of what they need to be doing in their own lives. I had a buddy in college that was so focused on his volunteer work that he stopped going to class and almost didn't graduate.

Wow...please see the post immediately preceding yours.

bnoro was at least trying to say/see what may be in KJE's mind and how he might move forward. I truly think he is "pro-KJE," as it were, despite my objections as to how it was stated.

Your statement is actually ridiculous in its oversimplification. But for me, the greatest offence with your statement is that you only seem to care about the direction of KJE's life as it pertains to football. This results in a reduction of his relevance, or value in your eyes as to what he can or may do for you, and not what is best for KJE.

In situations like this, where getting his life in order (whatever that may mean), outweighs what happens on the football field: Support the person, first. Then the team.
If you search for negativity you can project it anywhere. This is a football board and KJE is/was a Syracuse football player. I did not read the same lack of regard or dehumanizing into either of the two posts you have. I have seen nobody trashing this kid even though it appears he has been unable to meet the staff's DART expectations. It seems people are simply discussing KJE's options and what may well happen in the future.

That is completely fair. COMPLETELY!

Most don't have time to write out a dissertation (like I do, apparently) to fully explain their stance. There has been some trashing (minimal, but present), and I guess I (over)react to that.

Coach Fran treats his players as "men," and the DART mentality is an integral part of that. I am on board with this, while also recognizing that for me, most of these players are still "kids" in many ways, and not just pieces to be moved on a chessboard.

So, to (hopefully) wrap this up: My apologies to bnoro and Ttk.gman2 for coming at you too aggressively, and yes, being condescending as well. You really didn't say anything terribly out of line, but that's how I read it. Sounds like a "me problem," doesn't it?

No offense taken on my end, no apology necessary

I am not demaaning him as a person or saying anything horrible about him I’m looking at this from the outside looking in I’m just talking strictly football because that’s where I’m comfortable talking about . I don’t know him personally me and him are the same age . All I’m talking about is football never said anything bad about him personally feels like your searching for negativity and conflict.

Please see post #279 in this thread. It is an attempt to explain and walk back the tone of my post.

I will say it again, just to be clear: I apologize.

I'll "see" you around the forums...and, oh yeah...Let's Go Orange!

It must crush you how much respect Fran has for Hicks or patience with the player.
Not just Fran, remember Smith said in an interview that “finally” they got Hicks on staff officially. The delivery and body language were telling.

Talent isn't worth the distraction
And I agree, if Fran Brown wasn't the coach. Fran has frozen this guy out so he's not a distraction. If he comes back, he won't be a distraction either (in all likelihood).

I had a buddy in college that was so focused on his volunteer work that he stopped going to class and almost didn't graduate.

I knew someone in the exact same boat. But in this case, he was focused on his volunteer work at Maggie's, drinking beer out of fish bowls, playing darts and melting the ice at the urinal.

He eventually graduated, he's all grown up now, has a job, and loves posting here under the name Chip.

what is the distraction? tons of cuse players have been suspended before. it took rudy 4 tries to be able to transfer to ND. what are we even talking about?

Should we change the title of this thread seeing he apparently never entered the portal?

What about his post saying he would be naming his next school soon.

That time has passed a while ago. Also I'll take the insiders info about him never putting his name in to begin with.

5 dollar pitchers at Sutters

LOL - TWO dollar pitchers (and fishbowls) at Maggie's!!

Also - the 'old' (upstairs in MSM) Maggies had $2 pitchers and $0.25 cent hot dogs for Monday Night Football.
