Cohen mentioned he and Marona missed practice. Hope neither are injury related.

For the second day in a row, absences were the big story for Syracuse at preseason camp. Kyle Knapp, an offensive tackle, was not at practice Tuesday, and defensive end Tyler Marona was missing for the second day in a row as well.

Knapp, arguably the sixth-best offensive lineman for Syracuse after the established first five, represents a big loss if he is hurt. He was cross-training at both tackle and guard to be a utility man for offensive line coach Pat Perles.

Offensive guard Rob Trudo, who was in shorts and a T-shirt at practice Monday, was back in pads Tuesday. His participation, though, was limited, and Omari Palmer continued to take reps with the first team.

Josh Kirkland remained in shorts and a T-shirt on Tuesday with what appears to be a lower-body injury. He was walking with a bit of a limp on the practice field.

Quinta Funderburk, absent from Monday's practice, was back on the field in full pads.

Good news about Funderburk.

Not going to jump to too many conclusions, but rather have Knapp healthy than Funderburk if we could only choose one.

Fort Drum, N.Y. — Syracuse coach Scott Shafer gave few details after Tuesday's practice about the status of offensive lineman Kyle Knapp and defensive lineman Tyler Marona, both of whom did not participate in the afternoon's session.

Marona sat out Monday's practice in Syracuse, as well.

"Nothing bad with either of them," Shafer said. "A couple of upper-body injuries, but they should be back here ... hopefully the next day or two."

that's too bad with Kirkland. Hamstring injuries are a pain in the ass, and easy to aggravate if not properly healed. Let's hope it was a slight strain.
