Nice article by McAllister. Kris and Scoop have done us all proud and made the most of their opportunity.
I would quibble a bit with his comment on Mookie. Quite frankly, Mookie got shafted at SU. He clearly picked the wrong school. Had he been given the same opportunity as Kris, he might still be ahead of Kevin Jones. Nobody's fault. Just the way the pieces fell and other options were preferred. Sad, because Mookie sprang the same social depravity and inner City challenges as Scoop.
How did Mookie get shafted? He hadn't proven that he was good enough to get more playing time.
Thank you sir I appreciate the kind words. I disagree on Mookie slightly. I think he didn't work as hard as he could have in practice and developing the rest of his game, and that's why he didn't play. That said, he still got a free education out of the deal. Not that bad.Nice article by McAllister. Kris and Scoop have done us all proud and made the most of their opportunity.

Look, I cannot dispute your point. I will just tell you this. Mookie won the downstate player of the year award. That is against a 2 million population base including five counties just north of NYC. Every other player of the year down here in the last 15 years has gone to the NBA. His coach - who also coached Elton Brand - said Mookie could be as good. He carried Peekskill to the State championship and was hotly recruited by the #1 team in the nation at the time.
The problem was that as a 6'-6"+ forward - he sometimes played center at Peekskill - he had to be trained as a guard to make it in the NBA. With a great outside shot and the ability to crash to the boards when needed, he seemed destined for stardom. Unfortunately, SU was loaded and did not need his talents. He foolishly picked SU because all the orange games get covered by the Peekskill cable system and he was a fan.
