Kyle McCord: Drafted by Eagles / Rd 6 Pk 181

So what's my baptism for becoming an Eagles fan?

The NFL should figure out a more secure and unique way to notify a player that they’ve been drafted to get rid of crazy prank calls pretending to be teams. That has to be maddening when you’re so anxious to hear the life changing news who has drafted you to keep getting prank calls.

As an eagles fan, i said earlier this year, only slightly sarcastically that the eagles would be better with McCord than hurts. Hurts just holds on to the ball too long and takes silly sacks. Kyle makes decisions quickly and is more accurate than hurts in my opinion. With the offensive line and the weapons the eagles have, you don’t need a mobile qb. Obviously hurts played better as the season went on and he’s played his best on the biggest of stages which can’t be coached. I’ve gained a lot more faith in hurts by the end of the season but I would love the opportunity to see if I was right in the beginning of the year when the eagles were struggling lol

Commit random violence.

Burn something win or lose.

Climb a light pole and fall.

I literally LOL’d and almost spit out my coffee!!

You, good sir -

A guy on ESPN radio said he knew for a fact Kyle was the Steelers choice.
I believe it. This morning I googled Pittsburgh and the NFL draft.
What came up was a pick by pick recap of who they picked and all about the person they picked.

Unfortunately, they wrote 2 paragraphs about their sixth round pick - Kyle McCord.
They said what number pick it was, everything McCord had accomplished, etc.
No mention at all on Howard.
I had read an article early Saturday from a Pittsburgh insider saying they were going to definitely pick McCord as their quarterback Saturday - when depended on how long they thought he would last.
They gambled and lost.

My sons, both Eagles fans, would probably disown me for this… But I have never been all that impressed with Hurts as a top QB. Not sure why exactly. This year, I thought Barkley made their team go. Great OL. Good D. Hurts always seemed functional but not spectacular. Anyway. Maybe McCord will settle in as a solid backup waiting for an opportunity.

Barkley did make their team go, everyone had to account for him on every play.

Hurts has always struck me as good, not great. He's in a great situation with great pieces around him and a system that fits him well, but I wouldn't expect to put the team on his shoulders the way I would with Mahomes or Allen.

Will Kyle follow in Tommy D's footsteps? You know, live at his parents house? Maybe even enjoy a meal of chicken cutlets?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Hurts remains under-rated. The guy is just a grinder and always studies to get better. He's especially worked on cutting down on turnovers and has succeeded. He's succeeded, I might point out, with literally a different offensive coordinator every year.

He's especially underappreciated for his ability to read defenses and successfully change plays at the LOS.

Plus, love or hate the Tush Push, Hurts has turned his body into the effective weapon that makes that play work.

Fit wise, would have made perfect sense.

No idea why they waited until the 6th round, when they had numerous picks in earlier rounds.

Dumb.
