Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

let’s not act like everything talked about on this board ends up being right. Dan Mullen “was at practice” this week last year… and a reporter also screwed that up.
Don’t have to report it as a fact. But someone anyone could have asked Kyle if any of the rumors were true.

I thought someone on here did at the DART event and he indicated he might not be leaving. It's in the "Club DART Party December 18th" thread.

I love Steve and this isn’t meant to single him out. But I think it’s pretty funny that we have been talking about this for weeks. Twitter Joes have been very openly talking about it. Directly asking McCord, insiders and journalists.

The ONLY thing from any journalist was an accidental link that had a picture headline that said McCord granted 5th year in an article that had nothing to do with McCord 5th year.

On Dec 19th, finally Brian Higgins asks McCord what’s up.

And now every cuse journalist is like “my sources can confirm”
Can’t really report rumors though.

You're citing a 1972 story here... was a vastly different world and even then hindsight shows not exactly a transparent one.

Point isn't that what is currently accepted was always the case but editors aren't even a guarantee at this point. More times than not actual Anonymous sources are outted anymore. Whistle blowers face repercussions constantly anymore. It's now a gotcha world and if you ain't first You're last... facts be damned IMHO.

Comes down to the level of integrity one believes a source to operate under and this is likely where we deviate based on lived experiences. That's perfectly acceptable as well obviously.
Well, I know a lot of journalists. And we talk about this stuff. And the editors do know the source. I can guarantee you that Nate Mink knew who Brent's source was. And I also don't agree that with the legit news services, contrary to what some want to believe, there is no facts be damned. There is some get it first, hope to be right. But not a lot of it. There is too much well, if it is a story I don't like and they use a unnamed source, I bet it isn't true attitudes among the public.

They can ask questions.

It’s just funny when there was tons of noise, they were silent.

And then all of a sudden after 1 guy asked 1 question no one else would weeks later all of their “sources” were confirming at the same time.

It’s not that serious. Like I said, I love Steve. He’s awesome. I even love Axe.

I mean come on, most of them were at the Darty. No one (cuse journalist) thought about asking him on the side if anything was actually brewing?

It's a lot easier to get an Athletic Department source to confirm something everyone already knows than it is to get them to confirm something the public doesn't know yet. Once the cat is out of the bag, all the other reporters can fire off one text/email to their sources around the football team and get confirmation pretty easily.

I’m not saying report it.

But ask the question to Kyle lol. Exactly what Higgins did.

There really is no rebuttal to the fact that it’s funny and it took them too long to figure out what EVERYONE knew.

Someone did at the DART Party. This is from the Collins Thread:

i meant a journalist - and once he says that they can quote it... just like higgins did 18 hours later.

guys, its seriously not that serious and like i said there is no rebuttal that i wont have a rebuttal for. it was not their greatest moment that no one could even sniff out (enough to report) what we all knew 2 weeks ago.

Heck, Fran gave the soundbite that everyone heard and knew something was up (except for those who very oddly thought the senior bowl was some binding contract). Ask Fran and Kyle what that comment meant. Or ask KJE what his tweets mean? Or ask CusefanATL if Ryan Day signed off on the waiver. Pms are open.

Maybe Fran let them know he wasn’t ready for it to be out in the open yet.

That's fair, many folks operate with implicit biases anymore it seems vs a general curiosity for knowledge. Media outlets have businesses to run thus pander to clicks and eye balls. It's an odd dynamic to witness that, as you stated, people levels of scrutiny are largely based on if they like a story or not.

Everyone thinks their tribe is the Jedi and opposite is the Sith... I'll just continue to be a wookie.
