Lack of athleticism

Isnt Braswell only a junior?
I think the point was we got players late in the recruiting cycle.
Like Marek 4 years ago
Braswell 3 years ago
Edwards 2 years ago.

All were late in the process so we should have expected Edwards could give us something because the others late in the process did.

I think it’s crazy Champagne wasn’t even offered when he would was a NY kid who could give us front court depth and pursued Edwards who is 3 inches taller and probably weighs less.

What is JBA?
I bet Champagnie was higher rated than him.

Champagnie was but he was also listed as a SF, JBA was a PF. Our problem is we don't land the Isaish Jacksons of the world anymore, instead we get JBA.

Quincy had 18 and 12 today, do we want Champagne over Quincy?

It’s a shame Frank has been out. I mean, he probably wouldn’t play anyway but we could at least latch onto him for some hope as the guy who should be playing, lol.

He definitely looked like the most intriguing prospect of the 3 centers, based on their very limited early minutes. I’d be calling for him to start, if he was available. Same with Woody, tbh.

We could have both.

He's getting the other teams best defender, because other coaches aren't dumb. They know JB will stick with Buddy even when he can't possibly get a shot off. Because, as Ghost will say - spacing. Oh, and the soft bounces off of Buddy misses.

He provided elite-level spacing today and a few misses that were just like lobs in that they didn't hit the rim. So, overall, A+ effort.

Buddy no do good basketball with best defender on him. It's better to have a player that can draw the best defender and still function normally if you're still going to need to COUNT on him for points because the defense is rather bad. I don't know.

I mean not for nothing I heard like 10 people say how underrated jba was and how he was going to to be great here.

Champagne wasnt skinny enough for JB, he wants them shaped like a runway model

So we had time to offer Jessie Edwards but didn’t have time to offer Justin Champagnie.
My god the roster management is has been garbage.
Jim Boeheim deserves to be blasted for his roster management but if he was asked about this he would be passive aggressive.
I swear to god this makes me want to call his show and give him hard questions as he won’t answer any hard questions except from the guys who aren’t with the PS. The student media need to press him as he can’t go hard at them if they ask the questions in a non jerky way.

Regardless what JB says, the proof is in the pudding.

Where does Benny get minutes next year? Are we really thinking Q goes pro? I’m not seeing that. I don’t think he has the lift/explosiveness for the NBA.

And if he does bolt, is Benny a 4? We would be even softer inside than this year.

“Sux” to be thinking about next year already. but... And with Kadary having to ride pine behind upperclassmen regardless of talent/potential, does Benny leapfrog Braswell and Woody?

Just looking, desperately, for a reason to be optimistic.

Over the last 10-15 years is astounding. Our guards are slow and plodding and our forwards and center cannot hang. Q is fine. But my god if your guards are going to play that way you have no chance.

We make excuses that North Carolina weighs more down low.

Or Pitt moves the ball too well.

It comes down to talent then coaching.

In the late 1980s and early 2000s, we had strong recruiting classes and were Elite 8/Top 15 solidly.

Now we have posts about being 73-87 and a defensive performance that yield 3.1 points per minute in a half against a decent but not great team.

Athleticism is a misnomer. Jesse Edward’s is athletic. We need ballers. And better coaching.

Marginal?
The dude is averaging a double double.
He is either first or second team ACC this year.

Quincy is averaging 16.4 pts and 9.5 rebounds. He's not as good as Champagnie but Champagnie is still not a center which we need more

Pitt fan here. He did say in his interview after the game that he grew up watching and rooting for Syracuse. He said all of his friends do also.

He has a twin brother who ended up going to St John’s who is more of a guard but has been very good also. Pitt fans were disappointed we didn’t get both, but happy to at least get one.

Justin did reclass and move up a year so that might be why you all never got around to offering him.

Our PF is pretty good too though. So is our other PF.

Question is, would this kid play a better C than Marek?

If we’re going to play PF’s at Center, they need to have a little muscle to them. Or be able to jump through the roof.

Woody looked good the first 4-5 games. Then he was benched with zero minutes. Anyone know what happened there? It's not like Braswell is doing so well.

Edwards was 123 at one point and ended 134. Not far off from Champagne dude

It’s amazing how much I see from JB how much he says “he’s not ready” or some stuff like that. Why on earth is JB not putting these kids in situations TO BE ready. Every game he doesn’t want to experiment ever BC he would rather not lose the game instead of taking a chance to win the game. I played a D1 sport at a high level. My coach took care of me with everything to put me in a spot to succeed and it made me a better player. JB puts so much accountability on these kids and yet none on himself. Give the kids a plan, create better plays, make them look better. Try it please

I watched the Baylor Texas tech game. Baylor’s PF/C looked he could bench all of ours. Combined.
