LB Lee Kpogba transferred to East Miss CC

I guess I shouldn't ask on the board because of player privacy, but didn't his suspension coincide with a report about a gun charge? If I have the right guy, whoever that guy was was never coming back, in my book.

Any update?
He never entered the transfer portal. Had to enter by July 1st to be immediately eligible to play.
He could go juco but he’s been at su two years.
It will be interesting how this plays out.

I would be surprised if it’s anything….he wasn’t in the transfer portal and what Ole Miss did if he wasn’t in the portal yet 100% is tampering, so probably was just having a good time while he was there.

Not necessarily. If he was suspended because of loss of eligibility due to academics he would have had to enroll elsewhere to take courses to regain eligibility. That's what happened to Shy. Unfortunately it didn't work out for him.

Yes. If he lost his NCAA eligibility he couldn't transfer anywhere to play football. Not JUCO either.

Babers said he would have information “soon” that addresses the status of Lee Kpogba, the linebacker who was suspended in February.

Kpogba had surfaced down in Mississippi last month at a time the SU players were on campus for summer conditioning work, casting doubt he’ll return to the team.

“If you read the tea leaves, you kind of know,” Babers said.

Kpogba’s contributions have mostly come on special teams and as a reserve linebacker the past two seasons. In 22 career games, he made 44 tackles, including two for loss and a sack.

I'm still a little shell shocked with our injuries luck the past season. Right now we've got

And a bunch of young guys behind them at LB. If one or two guys emerge eventually then yeah we'll be fine, but I just wouldn't expect that til maybe later in the season.

Im not sure if Linton will remain at LB or not. I heard reports that he may move down to DE. Lowery got some snaps. Hopefully him and Sparrow steps up.

I do think Linton could thrive at DE so I'm not upset at that. I'm pretty bullish on our run defense this year with the Seniors coming back on the DL and the LBs having a year under their belt. I just worry if a couple guys go down early in the season is all.

Eh, that's a decent quartet and each has room to improve, plus White showed he's willing to rotate. I expect that one of the young lbs will show they deserve snaps and they'll see the field.

Yeah, this reminds me of that other list of the guys we've lost in the last year, and it was Kpogba, Kadeem Trotter and a couple other LBs who seemed promising at one point.

As far as LB depth, Justin Barron is 6'4 220 basically and I'm sure can play LB in certain personnel situations.
