LeQuint Allen is Back

You would think that any form of punishment in any matter would have a better review/appeal system.

I would hate to think that every kid who throws a punch where both parties know a punch is coming gets escalated to basically getting thrown out of school. Not every situation is easy to walk away from even if you want to.

Is the punishment for the act or for the result of the act. Since we already have heard the results caused by Allen are pretty vague as to who caused what was that part of the judgement?

For me, it was vandalism of a South Campus apartment that I moved out of days before it happened. My roommate's ex threw paint all over, defecated and urinated throughout our place.

It’s funny, I have been a fan all my life, grew up in Syracuse, got a masters from Whitman, I have no problem telling people the school itself is overrated. I wouldn’t send my kid there.
Good for you.

A lot to digest here. Sad situation for sure. Would love to see/hear about the responding papers filed by the University in defense of his lawsuit and to hear what happened to the alleged victim in his own disciplinary proceeding from the night's events.

If the chancellor can’t override a judgment then what are we paying him for? My goodness, just make it go away you idiots

We’re taking the wrong approach here … we live in a social media firestorm viral age. Make the identities of the judicial board public. Go through their social media posts. Find ONE that shows any kind of bias towards athletes, minorities, or even politics. And then crush them online.

Allen could potentially be losing millions in NIL money. That’s where the lawsuit comes in. Show that these kids discriminated against Allen in any way. We’re in a new world and battles need to be fought in this new way. Go get them!

Surely the kid also got suspended for a year right? Otherwise they just being openly biased against a football player. If the guy threw the first punch and did not face a year long suspension then there is something shady going on.

Syracuse has a long track record of turning away students for things that other schools take no issue with.

Anyone remember Colt Brennan?

I'll give you a real time example. Google Jayden DeLaura, QB for my son's school Arizona Wildcats. It was discovered a few weeks ago he had a sexual assault incident when he was in high school. There was a 5 minute outcry.

Then the story went away. And he is still the QB.

University even released a statement
“In the fall of 2022 after a civil complaint was filed against football student-athlete Jayden de Laura, the University of Arizona first became aware of a 2018 incident involving de Laura which occurred while he was in high school in Hawaii. After reviewing the matter, the determination was made to allow de Laura to continue as a student-athlete and his status remains unchanged.”

I'm not making a value judgment on whether he should or shouldnt be. I'm merely saying most schools go above and beyond, often to a fault, to protect their student athletes. We are eager to use them as public examples.

Yeah how about we don't do that.

My memory is failing - how did it all resolve when Carter teed off on that kid who threw a snowball at him? Feel like the punishment was waaaay less than what they are giving Allen, even when it is so clearly a case of self defense rather than chasing down a dude who threw a snowball or what have you.
I found this

Carter was suspended two weeks ago after being charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault in a one-punch fight that followed a snowball-throwing incident on campus in February. Lawyer George Raus said today Carter is to remain suspended for the remainder of this spring semester and for the summer semester.

TWO WEEKS

He was suspended for the spring and summer semester.

I think you read that wrong. He was suspended two weeks ago from when the article was written. But the suspension itself was for the remainder of spring semester and summer semester

Still a very different situation than someone who is right in your face in a tight room throwing multiple punches. Carter did actually have an opportunity to deescalate. Allen was defending himself as all of us would have in that situation.

AD has nothing to do with it.
Athletic Department is not involved, but this kind of penny ante crap (if what has been reported is accurate) makes the Department and it's leaders look weak. No big time athletic program at a legit P5 school doesn't have the influence to settle this thing in a more reasonable matter.
