YepView from Syverud's office.
YepView from Syverud's office.
Because we may not be getting the whole story. LeQuint's version could have some half-truths (i.e., self-preservation). Maybe LeQuint didn't throw the first punch, but he still could hypothetically been the first aggressor (e.g., grabbing the guy or pushing him before the guy throws the first punches). In fairness, it would be good to know the other guy's side of the story as well especially seeing it was LeQuint who was charged and presumably not the other guy.I have not read every post in this thread but don't understand what happened to the man and what were the consequences for him since he started everything by punching Allen in the first place - see the following:
In a Dec. 11 affidavit, Allen said he punched a man in “self-defense” after he was hit twice in the face. A teammate had told Allen that he was injured outside a party at the University Village Apartments, which spurred the incident. Records show that when the teammate and Allen returned to the party, a man yelled at them and accused them of hitting a woman.
Allen said in the lawsuit that once the man punched him once on the side of his face and once on his nose, he punched the man back in the face. A Syracuse Police Department spokesperson said Allen was charged with third-degree assault after the man picked Allen’s photo out of a lineup???????
Does the man just walk after hitting Allen? Shouldn't the man be charged for hitting Allen? Will someone please explain this?
Perhaps pressure from parents after medical bill/expenses. He apparently lost a tooth so figure dental costs associated with partial or transplant.I just can’t believe the steps it took to get us here.
1. The kid who was causing problems was at the same party as fball guys
2. This individual cause enough ruckus to get into altercations. Multiple.
3. Then many months later he decides to go to the student board?? Why not immediately. (Also what kind of person does this? Seems premeditated to come forward after months between the incident. If the fight cause lasting damage I can understand to an extent but over getting punched?)
4. This “board” of who knows who, makes a life altering disciplinary action completely beyond common sense with no risk to themselves whatsoever. No public statement just hide behind the “board” and the power of it.
Complete power trip.
Are you calling your gummies "crazy pills" now?The kid who punched LeQuint was apparently involved in multiple fights that night but wasn't charged?! Is this correct? None of this makes a bit of sense. *Insert Will Ferrell Zoolander "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills" gif.
Hahahaha I love this so much. Are you calling your gummies "crazy pills" now?
If so, that's hilarious.
This was my thought as well.I have no clue who Lequint punched. But I can see it right now, their mommy or daddy is probably a big shot lawyer or some admin at Cuse. Or someone connected. That’s the only way I can make this make sense
Following ncaa timelinesJoke that it took 7 months for this to be resolved
These kids do not have the same mentality as kids even 10 years ago. I’m mid 40s you got in a fight when I was younger and you shook it off and moved on. Now everything is a 5 arm fire. Society is so weak now.I can't even tell you how many times I got punched in the mouth before I was 22. Half the time I woke up the next morning and didn't even know who had hit me, I just cracked another beer and got ready for Saturday night
You might have to file a FOIA/FOIL for complete report?I told my son who has been a sports reporter and news anchor for almost forty years. He related that if it was the Syracuse police who where at the scene, they had to file a police report about the incident and that report is public knowledge. So, does anyone know the website of the department or could go to the department and read the report? This may add to our understanding of what actually happened.
I do not, but I agree. This story just broke last night but I imagine people (certainly journalists) have filed FOIL requests to gather more information.I told my son who has been a sports reporter and news anchor for almost forty years. I blame NancySyverud isn’t the problem. This discipline procedure has been SOP for decades as I stated earlier. Pressure needs to go to the Dean of Students. The Chancellor usually stays away from these matters. He had zero influence in this decision. Too many here like to blame him for everything else a specific department does.
This is insane. Even the DA knows this is egregious
Yep. I don’t see a scenario this suspension isn’t lifted. This is insane. Even the DA knows this is egregious
