LeQuint Allen is Back

Yeah, and we've heard nothing from him.
Too early to hear anything from him yet. They need to get it right, whatever they think that is, not do something quick as a knee jerk.

Yeah, things are going to happen. In handling those things, it seems there’s a very large area between going all SEC school with it, and what SU is doing here.

Agreed. And on the continuum of punishments, there is a big range between "no punishment -- he's a star football player" and "kick him out of school."

Allen hasn't gotten in trouble before, was forthright about his involvement, and has expressed his willingness to accept multiple other lesser penalties as a consequence of his actions. Penalties that seem more suited to a first-time offense.

Additional background context is that two other known participants in the altercation were NOT punished. And certainly not to the same order of magnitude that the University seeks to apply to Allen. So consistency is out of whack, and makes the way Allen's case was handled seem both arbitrary and capricious.

Common sense has to prevail here.

Another aspect of this is that a student panel made this decision and the part of the brain responsible for decision making is the prefrontal cortex. This part of the brain is not fully developed until a person’s mid twenties. I don’t any of these panel members was in their mid twenties.

Also to determine fairness, looking at the mental makeup of the panel, concerning mindsets (mental models) If those panel members had closed mindsets, they would be literal thinkers who would look at the rule and follow it, without considering other relevant content, like self defense.

Obviously, these things are unknowable and yet could have effected the outcome of the process.

After what the university has put him through, he should get time served.

I think you've cracked the reason for her incompetence. Now, who is responsible for hiring her underdeveloped brain?

I have no idea if it will help a bit, but I sent Pete Thamel a message on IG, basically begging him to take this story national. As others have pointed out, Pete seems to relish making his alma mater look bad, and boy do they deserve it this time, so let's hope he does it. I am seething, especially after reading the syracuse.com story today. I know we are all hypocrites in some way for flipping out over this because he is our star RB and not some scrub or some regular student. But, you know what? Change happens when something becomes public and involves someone with some stature, and if that is what it takes to overhaul this draconian/fascist system at SU, then it's a double win

I think if Duce was “guilty” of something, we’d know something by now.
Maybe it was talking to someone’s girl or that he’s a football player, stealing attention. Or maybe he said something to someone, but that does not equal getting jumped by 4-5 people. That’s absurd as well.
Maybe they found out Duce was entering the portal.

Soooooooo… if LeQuint had filed a report against the other student first, & just not shown up in any capacity at the behest of the other student for the hearing, he’d be free & clear?

Kent really needs to show some leadership here. Though, I don't think that is his strong suit.
I know it is fashionable in some circles to go after Kent every time something funky happens on the athletic side. However, more positive developments in SU athletics have happened on his watch than probably any time since Mel Eggers 40 years ago.

This doesn't appear to be an athletics issue.

I respect your opinion and your insights, but excluding his fundraising activities, the aggregate records of the football, basketball and lacrosse programs for the last ten years are probably the worst in the last 40 years.

From today's article it seems the act that the University is in truth punishing Allen for is that he showed up at the party and didn't call the police.

That's a hell of a consequence for that decision.
It’s really turning into bizzarro world up there on the hill. They were always dysfunctional at best but they have stepped their game up recently.

The OCS is a mix of students and faculty.
