Looking Ahead......Long and Meandering......

I have to laugh a bit when you keep doubting what's going on with BJ and whether he will be back and if the family is impatient and yada yadda yadda, when BJ's dad is RIGHT HERE IN THIS THREAD telling you that your fears and doubts are completely without merit.

This isn't meant to be a shot, it's just kind of a hilarious dynamic playing out.
Poor speculation on my part & I gave appropriate likes to reflect that I was off-base in my speculation.

As you may know, I have probably called more for BJ to get some run as compared to just about anybody else on this forum. He might have helped and he certainly could not have done any worse than what we saw.

I just want to see the kid get a fair shot. I transposed my own frustration with that to what I thought the family might be thinking and that was a dead wrong thing for me to do. It will not happen again.

Obokoh won't factor into next season, imo. And again, Coleman won't be half the defender BMK was backing up Xmas.

I don't particularly care if Coleman is anything of a defender like Keita; what would benefit Syracuse most is any sort of low post offense and rebounding skills.

If Ennis and Grant stays...
PG- Ennis Backup- Joseph
SG- Cooney Backup- BJ, Patterson
SF- Silent G Backup- Roberson
PF- Grant Backup- McCullough
C- XMas Backup- Coleman, Chino

If Ennis stays and Grant goes...
PG- Ennis Backup- Joseph
SG- Cooney Backup- Patterson
SF- Silent G Backup- BJ
PF- McCullough Backup- Roberson
C- XMas Backup- Coleman, Chino

If Ennis goes and Grant stays...
PG- Silent G Backup- Joseph
SG- Cooney Backup- Patterson
SF- Roberson Backup- BJ
PF- Grant Backup- McCullough
C- XMas Backup- Coleman, Chino

If both go...
PG- Silent G Backup- Joseph
SG- Cooney Backup- Patterson
SF- Roberson Backup- BJ
PF- McCullough Backup- some unknown Juco or Graduate transfer
C- XMas Backup- Coleman, Chino

Hopefully Ennis and Grant do not leave because that means backups better be playing to get 3pt production up.

I can almost say for sure JB would disagree, giving the fact how much he valued BMKs D.

Man I hate to break the news to you, but Silent G isn't going to be the starting PG for anyone next year let alone SU.

I think it is fair to question why BJ did not redshirt this year. If his Dad did not post here, we' d see a lot more questioning of it. And Dad - we want you to keep posting!

JB had mentioned a number of times during the year that BJ was not physically ready to play. Many of us agreed and considering he is young for a freshman, he appeared to be a great candidate to be redshirted. Particularly since he had numerous upperclassmen ahead of him in the rotation.

Why he was not redshirted has been subject to speculation, as no answer was ever given. And that's OK. BJ and his family do not have to give one - we're not entitled to one.

But not having a clear answer means that people will speculate and give their opinions as to why they thought he should etc. And that's OK too. That's part of why we have this forum - to discuss topics like this.

My thoughts on this subject have been consistent throughout the season. I felt he should have redshirted due to the reasons mentioned above. BJ may not need that 5th year but it would have been nice to have that option.

I wish BJ all the best as he does the hard work necessary to make himself a crucial part of the Orange in years to come. Let's Go Orange!

First of all I used "big ifs", I changed nothing. Second I said I can't see it. That's my opinion. But thanks for telling me what I can and can't predict.

That's a bit ironic. You call out another poster by questioning how it is even "possible" for our forwards to be better next year, and then take offense when others point out that you were incorrect and it is entirely possibe.

Yeah ... but ...

it would be nice to actually have a threat to score (or how about, to at least catch the ball on offense, and maybe collect it while rebounding, instead of volleyballing it somewhere) down low. That way maybe, just maybe, you can feed the ball down low, then kick it out for an outside shot that doesn't require running the shooter ragged before the attempt. There comes a point where you do need to score to win the game. And it would be nice to have the option for EASY shots from a post play. I'm not asking for Kareem down there, but I don't see why you can't find a post guy for 6-7 shots per game. You know, like they used to do with Arinze Onuaku, who I thought was underused. You're not setting the bar very high there. But I would settle for at least looking to the post for an entry, which SU rarely does. Grant does, Keita tried, nobody else even looks down low.

From what I saw, SU's problem is not defense. "The zone kept them in the game" is code for "the offense sucks, they can't score." I was hoping for an offensive improvement.

Dam man, drama much? I didn't "call out" anyone. Big difference between calling someone out and disagreeing on a part of a post. That's what goes on here, people say their opinions etc. Me using the term "how possibly", is the same in the opposite direction of the OP's "we should be better". I took offense to you trying to say I was wrong, and then have nerve to tell me "don't predict that". Adios. And besides I'm pretty sure the OP didn't need a co-signer on what he said, regardless if I agree or not.

I agree with you 100%. Not much I wouldn't give up to have a low post scoring threat and a good rebounder. Just from listening to JB over the years, I think he values a center that can hold down the zone over any other skill they could have. I think that's why he pulls his centers when they screw up it's always on D. Even when we won the title, he said Forth and his understanding of the zone was a huge piece to the puzzle. So in his eyes even if Coleman is back next year, seems like he'd have a ways to go to earn JB's trust and playing time. But yes, he seems to be our best man in the middle with a threat to score. Let's really hope he even heals up enough to play.
