Looks like we could Doug Marrone as the next Tennessee Titans HC

Another former Syracuse coach Teryl Austin has interviews lined up with Miami and Cleveland early this week per multiple reports for the head coaching position

The stupider thing was blocking JJ Watt with only 1 guy. That was just beyond stupid.
The sack total isn't on Marrone. Bortles holds the ball too long a lot of them as he looks down the field.

Marrone is getting an NFL job this offseason I know you and Kaiser can't believe it but its going to happen because of his contacts and agent.

Bortles was sacked on 10.4% of his dropbacks in 2014 and 7.8% in 2015. How much of that was him getting better at getting rid of the ball better this year and how much of that was approved line play? Who knows, but the improvement in the stats are decent.

Doug Marrone is going to be an NFL HC in 2016. Tennessee, Miami, New Orleans he is on all 3 team's radars. Too bad Kaiser won't have to rickshaw anybody because of this.
doogie will have his name 'mentioned' for just about every job based on his agent, he will likely get 2, maybe 3 interviews and then will be somebodys sounding board again.

mcadoo gets the Giants, marrone would be perfect here.

Doug already has interviews scheduled with Cleveland, Miami, and Tennessee. He is going to get a HC this offseason. Nobody will hold it against you if you get this one wrong. I get plenty wrong. Doug Marrone will be an NFL HC in 2016.

again, if the browns hire him...that wont count.

good lord, did you see where they were going to hire a coach and then allow him to help with the GM search??

assbackwards organization.

the job pool is pretty weak, its gonna suck for him when he gets shut out.

but, 'tis the life of a quitter.

I'm giddy over the idea of Marrone and his complete inability to handle disfunction going to the Browns, arguably one of the least functional organizations in all of sports, and, oh by the way, they don't have a QB.

Good coaches take jobs where there's at least some reason to believe you'll have a competent QB.

I doubt he even gets an interview, but I would love Doug to follow up Coughlin in NY. I appreciate what Doug accomplished here and have no problem with any of his prior actions. It is business as usual in this sport. 2 Cuse alumni coaching my favorite NFL team back to back would be great!

Agreed. HCDM in NYC is OK by me.

Payton's my guy for the Jints. Everybody is talking about Coughlin and why he's gone and how he left, what nobody is talking about is how terrible of a talent evaluator Jerry Reese has been. Ridiculous he's holding onto his position.

Payton is going to cost a 2nd round pick. Are the Giants desperate enough for Payton to give up the 42nd pick in the draft?

I think other teams like the 49ers/Eagles/Colts will be more desperate to give up the draft pick for Payton.

Douglas Marrone may get the Saints job after Payton and have the draft currency to reload the team.

If I'm adamant on who's gonna steer my ship for the foreseeable future, who gives a shat about a 2nd rd. pick. Reese throws those away like tissues anyway.

Go get the guy you want. He's the top of that chain of command. The avg 2nd rd pick will give you at best three years, three years of hopefully above avg play. Not that indispensable.

I would call Nick Saban if I were any elite NFL job. He will listen to good NFL jobs. Indy, NY Giants, Philly right now with their rosters should atleast gauge Saban.

well, to be fair here...EVERYBODY is talking about jerry reese and the crappy job he has done 'shopping for the groceries' so to speak.

i understand your 2nd round point, but id like to keep it, maybe even my 3rd. i think payton and reese would be oil & water anyway.

this is really not good, its a horrible time to be looking for a coach.

even the quitter is laughably being mentioned.

I would think Saints job would be Doug's top choice

I agree about how this is a terrible time, I have no idea outside of Payton who I'd want to come in.

Would Cowher consider a comeback? Would we want him?

Personally, I don't want a coach who has been out of the league almost 10 years.

Polian and Ron Wolf --- both HOF execs --- are big-time Marrone advocates. Say what you will (and I too felt jilted when he abruptly left), but Marrone is a darn good coach and is held in high regard by many in the NFL establishment (Marrone would be the Jets HC right now if not for a series of circumstances that have nothing to do with him). He is going to be a HC again. Yes, he has some deficiencies and he needs to look in the mirror for some of those. But so does everyone.

I am a Bills fan, and my biggest question about Marrone's 2 seasons in WNY concern EJ Manuel.
Was EJ forced upon Marrone (by Nix) or was he a Marrone/Hackett selection (or mis-selection)?
I've never seen that officially addressed. I want to think it was Nix, but I am not certain.
It seems out of character to be assigned to Whaley. Whaley actually has done some great talent evals the last couple years. Does really good with the waiver wire. Half the defense in Sunday's game were practice squad guys.

I'm an Eagles guy - but even I can admit that the Giants are a classy, well respected organization. Even with Reese.

They are one of the top jobs for sure.

I would be concerned about a coaches sanity to leave the booth. Not too many FB guys make the move back.

Problem is few owners would put up with his antics. He was a nightmare in Miami. The stories from his 2 years there are endless. Sent out memos telling secretary's in the office not to ever make eye contact with him. Had other insane demands of office personnel, was a nightmare with the press to the point the organization had to buy the reporters lunch on days they knew Nick was in a "mood" before a weekly press conference and apologize in advance to the media, he berated players to the point it was above and beyond being a "tough coach." He lived 4 doors down from Wayne Huizenga and when he quit in the middle of the night (after he said he wasn't taking the Alabama job for weeks) he refused to tell Wayne face to face, then through his agent said he would show up for a press conference to announce his resignation only to no-show at the last minute leaving the franchise high and dry.

You might get a lunatic owner like the one Indy to put up with Saban's antics just because he wants to win so bad he will sell his soul to do it, but no real franchise with stable ownership who are considered good people (Giants, SF, Eagles, hell even the Lions owners are considered good people even if they stink and are clueless) will put up with Saban.

Jaws says Doug is wanted at every opening .
Of course he is.
