Looks like we could Doug Marrone as the next Tennessee Titans HC

Those teams that attempted to lure him out of retirement also may have wanted him as a backup as was the case in Dallas. That doesn't mean he is good, it means that he was wanted as a backup. A veteran journeyman is not a "real quarterback" as in he was not supposed to be a starter and historically has only wont the starting job against garbage or claimed off the waiver wire after the REAL STARTER is injured for the season like what happened in KC.

What you are trying to tell me with the vomit from your keyboard is that Kyle Orton is a good QB and frankly he isn't and his career shows it. That to me says not a "real quarterback".

Being surprised that a guy is retiring, who has retired in the past, doesn't make a good HC quit his job especially when said HC took the job with garbage at QB to start with. Sorry not buying it, can you find me a Marrone quote to the effect of "...damn my journeyman QB that I am hitching my career to, Kyle is gone, I am screwed and throwing in the towel." If you can I will believe you.
When Marrone took the Bills job he said the reason he wanted to be in Buffalo was because he thought they had a lot of talent.

Unfortunately for Coach Marrone, they didn't have a whole lot at QB. Which is why it will be hilarious if he is offered the Browns job and takes it.

Did he say it was his dream job too? Maybe we shouldn't make so much out of what he says when he takes a job...

That's not really a great defense of character there..

Oh, that guy over there? Swell guy. Just whatever he says, it doesn't really mean anything. Remember that. Not his fault if you take him at his word.

“He turned the Syracuse program around in the years that I was there,” Giants offensive lineman and Syracuse product Justin Pugh said on Twitter on Saturday. “Great coach.

If Doug Marrone gets the NYG job the Francesa show the next day from 1-6 becomes L-E-G-E-N-D-A-R-Y. Between Francesa's rant, the callers it will be gold.

I can't imagine the NYG fanbase if Doug Marrone is hired. It is almost too good it can't even happen.

I would be just as pissed if not more if they hired Spags. McAdoo would be OK I guess but pretty much a settle type hire. Spags is OK but Marrone would cause a riot? Really? NOt speaking to you directly Alsacs but Spags was terrible as a HC

I like to poke fun of Marrone as much as the next guy but he wasn't a failure as a HC, teams could and will do a lot worse. He needs somebody to help him with the media for sure

I am not defending his character at all. When he was here, I only cared about winning games.

Maybe if he says something crazy when he gets hired as a HC somewhere we can lay off taking what he says seriously. He should just come out and say "I'm Batman!"

Never said Orton was a "good QB." He is (was) an average starting NFL quarterback. Nothing more, but nothing less. Marrone was not able to orchestrate an offense that finished better than #25 in DVOA despite having that average quarterback. Whereas Rex Ryan and Greg Roman were able to design an offense that finished #9 with a former 6th round quarterback who had never started a game before this season.

That should speak volumes. But I'm sure you'll spin it in some way to make Marrone look like a blameless victim.

orton was fine until the line fell apart.

the bills got way better on the o line where marrone is supposed to know what he's doing. they got way worse on defense where rex ryan is supposed to know what he's doing. it's a wash.

A media person who also specializes in psychiatry.

Who will prevent him from choices such as bringing a local media member into an interrogation room the day before the final game of the season against a division opponent to discuss his tweets.

Chip Kelly to Tennessee makes a ton of sense (Mariota).

It was reported this weekend that someone with the Titans organization said "It would be a cold day in Hell before we hire Chip Kelly."

Eh, Rex Ryan got them to 8-8 with a worse defense and a QB that no one thought could be a QB in this league. Plus it was a season in which all 16 opponents needed a win.

Injuries were obviously worse this year, but Rex had far more talent on the offensive side of the ball to work with than Marrone ever had. Having said that, I think Marrone did a good job as the Bills coach and while this season was a bit of a disappointment largely due to the defense, I still think Rex is a fine coach and think he'll figure it out. The breakthrough of Tyrod (who was great this year despite only really being a one or two-read QB and not really using the middle of the field) was huge for the Bills. Hopefully he improves on the two things I mentioned and builds off this season.

I don't buy that for a second.
then you dont know the NY Giants and havnt been paying attention to the last week.

im not saying thats wrong, you might not be a Giants fan and dont care, i dont know. but Reese was not kept for just 1 or 2 more years. he will have the tenure of this coach to win, otherwise...theyre both gone.

just like every other GM-Coach, win now...or we are cleaning house.

Doug has 3 shots right now. Cleveland, NY Giants, and Tennessee. I think Tennessee is real best chance but for the sake of entertainment I really want Marrone in Big Blue Country.

yeah, saw the tweet and read raanan's stuff over the weekend. Reese is not doing well, yet he has been given more time to fix it and TC is gone. go figure...

Def weird. I think that's why his leash will be shorter than the new coaches... It's already a media talking point.

huge mis-step by reese.

during reese's portion of the TC goodbye, raanan asked him about his draft problems and he got all defensvie and questioned whether he had the stats/data to back that up. everyone who watched that presser here just knew that a bunch of people would dive in and do just that.

so far the score is: reporters 2 - reeses' drafts 0

Kaiser you put any stock in the Boston Globe troll article that Belichick may want the Giants job after this season and the Giants would have to give up atleast 2 first round picks to the Patriots for Belichick to go the NYG.
The Boston media is full of jackals that because of all the success wants to troll its local fanbase with stupid crap like that.

I doubt either side would want to make the move.
