Looks like we could Doug Marrone as the next Tennessee Titans HC

Marrone is very pro analytics and would probably see it as a great thing to have someone in the front office who wrote the book on their use. His biggest issue in Buffalo was the old guard doing things the old way, not new ways of approaching running a club.
This is your most absurd statement on this topic yet. And that's saying something.

Why is it absurd?

Just another of your meaningless replies. You haven't actually rebutted anything I've said in this thread.

Whew! Negative slant article by Bud (shocking). I like Marrone more now.
"He once confessed to dropping out of high school following his junior year, only to re-enroll because of football opportunity. He admitted to contemplating transferring from SU after his junior season and playing one final campaign for West Virginia, Syracuse's bitter rival. He packed his bags and abandoned the Orangemen on the Monday prior to their 1985 season opener at Mississippi State, (being ruled "absent without reason" by school officials) before returning to the squad the next day."

This is a new fact that I was unaware. So he has a real history of quitting or contemplating quitting. Very interesting!

Whoa, hey now, when SU offered him a scholarship they knew he could leave at any time.

If there's one thing that would make Marrone more popular, it's a negative Bud article.

Bud might even be on the payroll.

It's absurd because Marrone is the most traditional, old-school coach out there. Nothing he did with the Bills would indicate that he is some inventive trailblazer schooled in the art of logical analysis, only to be denied his genius by the "old guard" at Buffalo. I'm sure that's exactly what happened. Poor guy.

Analytics screams to not punt on 4th and 2 from the opponent 35. That part must not be in his analytics binder.

He hasn't changed a bit!

left SU without graduating. had to get a degree to get into coaching so he did it eventually

If so, he's getting paid a lot by a lot of folks.

Analytics does not just pertain to offense , it also looks at defensive statistics , such as : What effect does field position have on turnovers and defensive scores.

I wasn't going to read a Bud article, but that's new info to me. He left the team the day before their season opener?! I never knew the specifics around the comments made about how he needed time to grow up at SU. Apparently that extended deep into his senior year. Not that it matters, but wow.

When did that happen?

You're full of crap regarding his attitude . The guy used it in NO, brought it to SU, and Buffalo used it extensively, both the coaching staff in all aspects and the GM for their scouting.

The sporting RamRod of our fair Burg

"There must be a school out there, some sort of Hogwarts-inspired academy where columnists go to learn the art of lousy column writing. It can't just be a coincidence that our worst sports columnists, people such as Woody Paige, Jay Mariotti and this week's featured guest, Bud Poliquin, are all seemingly cut from the same cloth — overly negative in approach, painfully flowery in execution. Ten words where two will do. It takes them seemingly forever to get to the point, going on and on when the paragraph should have been ended sentences ago, droning on about ... dang! Now we're doing it!" DeadSpin

Marrone's propensity for wussy game management decisions is well-documented.

And you're full of crap regarding Buffalo as "the old guard doing things the old way."
