Lydon to hire agent and enter NBA draft

100% correct.

If Hop had stayed, Lydon was staying. Have that on very good authority.

Really interesting to hear that. Never thought the stupid Washington Huskies would have such an impact on our program and next season.

Hes clearly confident in his ability to stick even if hes a second rounder, no qualms with that . But I still bet he gets picked first round
yep and again maybe he's been hearing from certain teams

Really hoping he hangs on for a first round selection. I think he will because he will be impressive in workouts. I want him to succeed
We all want him to be great. I hope he blows up at the combine but I don't see it. I wouldn't call him a great leaper, not really a workout warrior and not known for being a good ball handler. However he has good size, has great range and a good rebounder. It will be very interesting how he does

In some respects colleges/universities have failed us (as has the government for artificially inflating the price of education).

But pushing education (in various forms) is important. It might be the most important thing to ensure our standing as global elite power. We have fallen behind the world.

I think that failure needs to be shared with the high school education system just as much.

I'm just shaking my head reading that. One should have nothing to do with the other. It's not like Hop was going to be head coach this season. What's going to happen in the pros when his favorite asst coach leaves for another position.

To me it makes no sense, your going to base your whole future decision on what an assistant coach does.

This totally fits with their long standing "Best White Guy Available" draft strategy. ;)
Actually they need a stretch four. Things have soured with Trey Lyles and Derrick Favors has been hurt a lot.

If this is true, he's been getting bad counsel.

The kid should have left last year, but stayed. The fact that he would have stayed again if Hop stayed seems crazy.

I get why you would jump into getting an agent once you decided to leave since agents have huge power in the NBA, but I really don't get why someone in his draft position would be basing his choice on if Hop were around or not.

By the way, to whoever it was that said Lydon is statistically the least impressive potential first rounder ever or whatever it was that they said here... Ike Anigbogu and his 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game has declared for the NBA draft and is considered a fringe 1st rounder like Lydon.

I mean that's pretty dumb to begin with considering Malachi's stats were worse last year and he was a first rounder(yes I know he can create his own shot).

Skal Labissiere did nothing for UK last year(6 and 3) and was a first rounder.

What? Did someone really say that?

If it wasn't someone in this thread, it was definitely said on one of the other Syracuse media type places, which is definitely possible. I nearly spit my drink out when I read it the first time.

What was Marvin Williams stats at Unc when he went 2nd in the draft? I believe they were pretty low.

It's more to do with the guy that is currently the head coach...

He didn't. Lydon already had his agent picked out when Hopkins flew the coup. If Hop came back, Lydon would still have left.

Jb doesn't get that. He has no good will with these kids. He can't sit down with them and tell them he thinks they should stay. They know he says that about every kid that thinks of leaving.

It had more to do with him being able to fully graduate after three years, which he'd be able to do after having three summer sessions under his belt. So that, plus the fact that he enjoys college and has a good relationship with Hop, was why he was considering staying.

When Hop left, staying for another year became a less attractive option. But it wasn't the main thing he was basing his choice upon.
