I couldn't disagree more. Not that the changes were bad but that the original was just so much better. Trapper was just so much better than BJ.

Not sure I can answer that. I liked the character Trapper. I loved the character BJ Hunnicutt.

I guess he (the character) was more relatable and a real person. Trapper seemed like a caricature to me.

trapper was more to the movie. BJ was more to where the show tried to go once it wasnt all about just laughs/drinking/sex.

Both had some great episodes. You throw 250 out there and you will have some HRs and some strike outs.

To me, it was one of the few shows that improved with cast changes.

It turned into the Hawkeye Pierce show IMO and one reason I got sick of it.
