I have no problem with making the decision now. But at the same time, hasn't the football program shown that winning is the only thing that'll make the fans show up? And if WIldhack isn''t already having back channel communications with the agents of prospective candidates, then he really isn't the right person for this job.

Agree - Red deserves the opportunity to finish a lost season just out of respect for years served. Also if they let him go and we still stink we may have to pass some of the blame onto the players, the GM, etc.

12-7 is terrible with this group. I think 1-5 in games decided by 5 or less now. I don’t blame anyone if they don’t show up the rest of the way.

It’s been declining steadily since before COVID. Now the drop-off is happening. And it’s a LOT harder to bring back season ticket holders than to keep them.

JW should do whatever gives him the best chance of success to hire the best coach possible. That should be his sole focus. If that means firing Autry now so he can publicly search, then do it. If it means letting Autry ride out the season, then fine. This year is a sunk. But if we screw up the next hire, well...

Somehow JB dragged the 2019 team to the tourney. A team with a rotation of Battle, Hughes, Brissett, Howard, (freshman) Buddy, Dolezaj and Chukwu. A team that was 257th in the country in scoring and 287th in rebounding. Tell me the pure talent on that team was dramatically better than this one.

Here's hoping they perform actual due diligence this time, to identify / hire the best candidate we can instead of settling and artificially constraining the candidate pool based upon dumb evaluative criteria.

problem for me is that they are employees now. Fan empathy, (at least mine) is gone. They need to play hard to justify their paychecks. Bad coaching aside, effort should be consistent.

We actually ran some in the first half, but we stopped with a few minutes to go and went nearly the entire second half running the stupid iso-ball offense with a lot of strange, unproductive off-ball movement that accomplished next to nothing.
