Im not convinced the University cares about sports and spending money on the programs. They need to overhaul their whole mindset.
I’m not sure it matters. Either we have great talent and Red is squandering it. Or the talent is subpar and Red recruited it.I'm not wholeheartedy defending coaching but nobody seems to want to put anything on the PAID players. And they've sucked.
It was weird to spend hundreds of millions of $$$ on the Dome and other facilities if they don’t care about sports.Im not convinced the University cares about sports and spending money on the programs. They need to overhaul their whole mindset.
Seriously? 100 pct the substitution patterns that killed momentum and leads. Houston was the FTs but you can’t singularly use that excuse in any other game. Hofstra once again was a poor effort where FTs didn’t let us escape but we never should have been in that position.
Trying to use FTs as an excuse for Red simply doesn’t add up and is just being in complete denial.
I'm talking early to mid 80s when the Big East was in its infancy and needed to take whatever TV spots they could get. I was 11-14 years old, watching on volume level 1 on an old b&w TV in my room with the lights off so my parents wouldn't know I was still up. WTTG channel 5 (Washington DC) before Fox was a thing Mike Gorman, Len Berman, Bill Raftery, et al.Many? I'm sure there was one in some year but I feel like it was very rare.
Ok. The point is that the team is competitive. The OP calls for making a change now. If we were getting blown out every game that might be a more supportable position. Like I said, at the end of the season it’s wins and losses. The close losses shouldn’t have been close for 4 of those heavily impacted by coaching decisions that put us in those positions to lose those games vs maintain /building leads.
Ok hah. I got a chuckle out of that one.I would hire you...yesterday.
I think there was more going on behind the scenes at levels above the Athletic Dept. that led to JB being retired. The easy and quickest way out was to hire someone on his staff and AA was sitting in the first assistant chair. Not sure how much throught really went into that. As has been reported on here for almost 3 years, some believe AA wasn't JB's first choice, but JB did set it up to be the inevitable one.
Lack of respect for the coach maybeThe evaporation of good defense is a mystery. First few games of this season we played D like hounds. Recently we've played D like lost puppies.

We will finish with a slightly worse record than 2 years ago while being more competitive in the games we lost. My guess is 18-13 overall, 9-9 ACC.Red as HC: 46-38 (21-25 in conference)
2023-24 Final KenPom Ranking: 80
2024-25: 115
Current: 71
"Competitive" is doing a LOT of heavy lifting in your post.
BTW, he was also on staff during our slide previous to his HC tenure.
I get that SU is probably waiting until the end of the season, but it's not outrageous to think that he should be let go by next week.
I agree with you.. I have been in denial for a long time now. I the saddest part of it all is coming to terms with the fact that I actually don't care anymore... I don't if its the constant roster turnovers or the below standard basketball... IM JUST SADIf the people in charge don't care enough to show me that we are a serious basketball program then why in the hell should I give a ***? This was clearly a failed hire after the first game of LAST season and nothing has been done but wasting everyone's time for another year and a half.
I'm absolutely maniacal about Syracuse basketball and I have been totally indifferent for two seasons now. It isn't worth me getting upset over anymore and hasn't been for the better part of a decade. Just took awhile to make that realization.
Show me that the school actually cares about this and fire him before the game on Saturday. Please.

Not really, they have always done things their way,and have always expected the fans to just pay and shut up.It was weird to spend hundreds of millions of $$$ on the Dome and other facilities if they don’t care about sports.
Grown had no problem canning Ewing and he was 20 times better than red. That’s besides the point. This is a business you can’t be worried about his feelings. He has made a lot of money the past few years. That’s the compensation. He needs to be relived to send a message that this is big time basketball and mediocrity is not acceptable here.
two things here. i was younger and the team and conference were better. That didnt use to be true. We played many a 9:00 p.m. start in the old Big East days.
I think I remember watching Gorman on the call when I first started watching back 89. I can't say I was old enough to remember before 89, lol.I'm talking early to mid 80s when the Big East was in its infancy and needed to take whatever TV spots they could get. There was at least one every week, which i always watched. Obviously, not always SU, but not infrequently either.
You mean this year? You can find someone. Sports teams often get a bump when they fire someone. Like Jake said before give engelstad a chance. If you fire Autry, who you gonna hire? And the new hire , how is that going to make us better? We can't be shooting from the hip on this.
There is a lot of truth to this.
We are teetering on the precipace of the program slouching into irrelevancy.
The powers that bay -- namely, the chancelor, new AD, and BoT -- need to figure out what they want this program to be a serious, top 25 caliber program.
If so, then going "cheap" isn't going to fly, and neither will hiring unproven / underqualified guys, rolling the dice on stuff like recruiting chops alone.
This offseason is going to tell us a LOT about whether the University is serious about Syracuse Basketball being good or not.
