Regarding the “mid-season firings looking bad to coaching prospects” comments. Red had >2.5 seasons and has pretty clearly failed expectations. If a mid-season firing intimidates anyone out of this job, they simply do not have the confidence we need anyway.

Kills me to say this, but the only reason I can think of not to fire mid season is decorum. Hard to value that as a fan.

Sometime in February is my hope.

It's all back channelled thru coach agents until the season ends, but you can bet calls are being made by programs planning to make a move... Hope we're one of them, but who knows??

Yea this isn’t like the Knicks or the Bills where they were still in it until they weren’t and then seemed lost on what to do when they made a change.

As a giants fan I’m hoping Cuse does the same. Get ahead of the game now. We know the season is a bust the process can start but methinks it starts after Hofstra and def after BC

I have been a Red supporter for a long time! I wanted it to work! For the university and everyone!

That said, Red unfortunately is not the choice I bleed orange! We have to make a change immediately! What I witnessed at the end of game can never be what SU is about. I’m sure Red is embarrassed, but a change has to be made.

I sit here with my son, watching the game. It kills m he doesn’t understand SU basketball. He is a yrs old! He doesn’t even know we were good! I’m fed up!

You're telling me JW won't interview college coaches until after the season is over? I have a hard time believing that. The portal is open for a short window starting the day after the national championship game. Unless we want to write off next year, we need our coach well before then.

He's absolutely interviewing coaches now. If not, he's not doing his job.

My take on this is that JW should already know who he wants and should already be backchanneling with the person’s agent to gauge interest, make the sales pitch to the agent, and figure out the person’s demands and expectations. Coaches don’t want to be distracted midseason. Everything goes through an agent at this point. If a person like Schertz is having a successful season right now, they’re going to be focused on their team. He should I also have a plan B and C in case the first one doesn’t work out.
