ouch..says something about the make-up of last year's team. Solidifies the notion we had, some malcontents.
“I chose Duke because I wanted to be around a winning culture and a bunch of guys who wanted get better all the time.”
I think I just dry heaved

Or it just means he saw more of what he was seeking at Duke right now. It doesn't mean SU is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.ouch..says something about the make-up of last year's team. Solidifies the opininion we had some malcontents.

Maybe I am a bad person but I hope he comes off the bench and plays 8 mpg.
It pisses me off, but you know, he isn't wrong

Why? I mean why that many minutes?Maybe I am a bad person but I hope he comes off the bench and plays 8 mpg.
You are not a bad person, these guys are now highly paid, professional mercenaries. No more free tickets with "they're only just college kids, be nice to them..." I wouldn't boo a college player before, I will now. Especially since I may be paying them with my NIL contribution going into their pocket. College football and basketball are now professional sports and these are the consequences.Maybe I am a bad person but I hope he comes off the bench and plays 8 mpg.
Guys like Brown will always find minutes. He just knows how to play and coaches will have confidence in him to do the right thing and always be in position to make plays. He’s the definition of a coaches player in the floor.
And rather than being part of the solution and helping to transform the culture as a leader, he headed out the door.He said he was coming back and then didn't. Wants winning culture but doesn't have winning mentality. Hope he lays an egg at Duke.
Won’t say that you are a bad person but you/we are very disappointed that Maliq Brown did not stay at Syracuse. I believe that he was an afterthought in Syracuse recruiting that year. He has improved in each of the two years that he was here. He had the requisite skills to step up and fill in holes the team had due to injuries.Maybe I am a bad person but I hope he comes off the bench and plays 8 mpg.
These players have a brief window as college athletes in a rapidly changing environment. Their decisions can't be easy right now, and there probably is no 'right answer' for most of them, but only several viable choices, all of which come with some level of risk. To wish failure for any of these people because they didn't make the decision you wanted seems monumentally stupid. He said he was coming back and then didn't. Wants winning culture but doesn't have winning mentality. Hope he lays an egg at Duke.
Good thing our recruiting seems to have turned around and is in an upswing again. It pisses me off, but you know, he isn't wrong
We haven't had a winning culture in a decade
Dude wants championships, and he will compete for one at Duke
No matter how good this year is we aren't competing for a conference title let alone a national title.
Next year may be different, but it wouldn't matter to him by then
Love what Jim did for the program but he left Red in a hole, and the roster makeup the past few years, the misses on the trail, the poor evaluation of a couple prospects really took the luster off the program
I don’t believe Jim lost his ability to evaluate players. That is innate for him.It pisses me off, but you know, he isn't wrong

Elite programs can pile up good players without making promises because guys just want to be there (for example, Quade to Kentucky with Shai already in the fold, Tucker going to Duke when there was no place for him in a strong set rotation and Barrett, Cam, Zion, I believe already committed for the next year). We aren't that kind of program yet so we have to placate and make promises even to 3 star or lesser guys.duke isnt doing whats best for every player...they are doing whats best for the program...as they should
bring in too many players and let playing time sort itself out
its what i wish syracuse would do instead of trying to placate every single player with pre-ordained promises and roles
Not a leader. If you can’t help build it, take the easy way and money.
I havent seen quotes like that from our incoming transfers. Its very easy to just say you’re attracted to the tradition and opportunity at Duke. If what he says betrays his mentality and self, then that is his own fault. You must feel the same way about our incoming transfers? As much as it sucks it’s a new world.

Just wondering if you guys think that Lampkin, Davis, Carlos, and Taylor (and JJ, Chance ) are not "leaders" and don't have winning mentalities. Because, you know, they also "headed out the door," bailed on their programs, and took "the easy way and money."Not a leader. If you can’t help build it, take the easy way and money.
