I am fine letting him run the team but SU (not Marrone) should hire an OC and give him complete control of the O. Let Shafer have complete control of the D. Marrone would handle all the big picture stuff but have little influence over the day to day FB stuff, including game day play calling. He would still make the big decisions like go for it, FG, punt, etc. But the main stuff he would not. I think this would be the best solution for all. He is certainly capable of running a program. He just isn't capable of running a FB team. Get the best available OC we can. Get the best recruiters as assistant coaches available. It worked for JoePa and Bowden late in their careers. Heck neither even wore a headset. Why can't we do the same? It also worked for Marrone when he was with the Saints. Let Marrone be the face of the program. Let him direct and lead the program. But keep him away from the O.
