Very true about a decade ago. I think Kyle is the ideal QB2 for most NFL teams for exactly that reason.
After these mobile QBs get their head taken off being dumb running the ball downfield on NFL defenses they all need a Kyle to come in and steady the offense. Read defenses, Short quick passes and taking what the defense gives.
If this has been posted, apologies, but I haven't noticed a lot of talk about this, so I thought I'd post the following:
Kyle McCord, the quarterback for Syracuse, will play in the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl on January 30, 2024 in Dallas, Texas:
The game will take place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. McCord accepted the invitation to play in the pre-NFL Draft All-Star game as a showcase for players who are hoping to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. It is the 100th time the game has been played.
- Shrine Bowl All-Century Team
Three Syracuse standouts, John Mackey, Larry Csonka, and Art Monk, were named to the East-West Shrine Bowl All-Century Team. All three went on to have Pro Football Hall of Fame careers.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is an annual all-star game that features college players from across the country. Players are selected based on their potential to make NFL rosters, and the Mississippi River is generally used to divide the players into the East and West teams. The game and its practice sessions attract many scouts from professional teams.
His play will be noticed by scouts from many teams and will have an effect on his draft position. If he plays well, it can't help but raise his status. The number of snaps the coaches let him take will also obviously effect his status. Other QB's listed are the following:
- Shedeur Sanders: Colorado quarterback and likely top NFL Draft pick
- Kyle McCord: Syracuse player
- Tyler Shough: Louisville player
- Kurtis Rourke: Indiana player
- Mark Gronowski: South Dakota State player
- Max Brosmer: Minnesota player
The four Syracuse players who will be on the East team for the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl are:
- Kyle McCord: Quarterback
- Oronde Gadsden II: Tight end
- Fadil Diggs: Defensive end*
- Alijah Clark: Safety
The 100th East-West Shrine Bowl will take place on January 30, 2025 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game is the longest-running college football all-star game in the country.
Players are selected for the East-West Shrine Bowl based on their potential to make NFL rosters. The selection process takes into account a consensus from the 32 NFL teams. Players are usually assigned to the East or West teams based on whether they are from east or west of the Mississippi River.
The game and the practice sessions leading up to it attract many scouts from professional teams.
* Whether Fadil Diggs can play depends on his health/injury. Does anyone know how severe or what his status is?

The East-West Shrine Bowl is an opportunity for college football players to showcase their talents to NFL scouts and executives. The teams are made up of players from colleges across the country, including college seniors and underclassmen who have declared for the NFL Draft. If only teams from east of the Mississippi are invited, the teams will be made up of players from those schools.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is the oldest college football all-star game in the country. It was created in 1925 by the Shriners and supports Shriners Hospitals for Children. The game and practice sessions attract scouts from all 32 NFL teams.
