Have heard this from multiple players.
Dino mentioned that when he was first hired.

Yes and the offensive skill of the current players allows OC's to attack defenses horizontally and vertically. Why wouldnt you used that? Thats like making the NBA build their offense around low post play and disregard that every single guy on the court can jump, shoot the 3 and handle the ball like guards. Things evolve.the game has changed. The speed of kids playing defense has compressed the time to execute a play
Exactly. This isn't news, if you were paying attention.Dino mentioned that when he was first hired.
I think what you guys are missing is that, while there may (or may not) be a paper copy playbook, information is presented to the players in digital formats. Dino believes that all his players have grown up learning this way, so that's the format he uses. He believes in visual learning and then the actual real-world application on the practice field.Have heard this from multiple players.
So the offense spends countless hours in a meeting room staring at a blank whiteboard. So that's the cause of our offensive failures? It was that simple all along.I think what you guys are missing is that, while there may (or may not) be a paper copy playbook, information is presented to the players in digital formats. As money3189 has tried to explain multiple times, the players are presented with digital information explaining scheme, formation, assignments, personnel groupings, signals, defensive keys, RPO options, zone vs gap blocking options, techniques for release for the WRs dependent on how the DBs are aligned and whether they are showing zone or man coverage, how to identify which defensive player(s) is in conflict, and on and on. It's way more complex than some of you are imagining.
And the QB has to know all of that for every position (except OL) which is why it is so hard to play freshman without real world reps.
They will struggle to run any offense. We have challenges in many areas. There's various reasons why we arent good. Schemes and plays that 90% of college football run is not the reason why we suck. Its reactionary to pin our issues on a scheme. People are questioning the defense now. When everyone wanted a attack scheme. How many times we have to change things for people to realize its more than just scheme? No matter what we change it to it will come down to the culture, coaches developing players, players making plays. The next time I watch SU's offense, I'll remind myself that football has evolved into this.
Would love to have Addazio back at SU. ( As a line coach)CSU plays Boise at 8:00 with Addazio coaching the Rams, watch some real time meathead football.
And...talent. We need a couple of dynamic play makers. The type of players that other teams have to game plan for. Dungey was one. I can't remember the last one before him. Nassib? Freeny, McNabb.TNo matter what we change it comes down to the culture, coaches developing players, players making plays.
I thought he did an excellent job at BC with all the constraints he had there. He could do some damage at CSU.Would love to have Addazio back at SU. ( As a line coach)
Yes, need guys like that. We have to find a way to run the ball consistently. Ive been disappointed in that more than anything. Spread schemes are suppose to allow you to run the ball better vs superior D lines.And...talent. We need a couple of dynamic play makers. The type of players that other teams have to game plan for. One of the "secret sauce" philosophies behind the spread/air raid is that #1 we would prefer to kill you with the inside power run, so please take numbers out of the box. He was solid for sure. He's a gritty coach but he's also stubborn. Fans got tired of the 7-6 seasons. I do think BC can be a 8 or more win program. Because of catholic school pipeline they have. They won a couple division titles in the mid 2000's.I thought he did an excellent job at BC with all the constraints he had there. He could do some damage at CSU.
You are absolutely right. We dont even attempt to run counter anymore. He just needed to hit on the right QB. Brown never really panned out. If he had a guy like Dungey, they would have won the league. He was solid for sure. He's a gritty coach but he's also stubborn. I think under center just feels familiar and right and we invent justifications for a feeling. But why have people running backwards while looking at the defense too close and tangling up feet. It’s just way easier in shotgun. So many things in this goofy sport take so long to get right that we trust that the wrong way makes sense

I'm at a loss to explain what they are trying to do with some of the run concepts. It looked like they were going more with zone blocking concepts once they realized what they have in Tucker. Good observation. Looking forward to seeing what they focus on coming off the bye week.I'm at a loss to explain what they are trying to do with some of the run concepts. I dont know about all that. Part of getting a QB is having a offense you can show case them in. QB's don't want to hand the ball off the whole game. Hitting on a QB could change a lot of teams projections. He just needed to hit on the right QB. Brown never really panned out. If he had a guy like Dungey, they would have won the league.
I thought he was running a proset. Last year he had a lot of tight end plays and a good receiver who also got a lot of plays. I know Brown was hurt but he just didn't move the needle for me. With the kind of line play they had and NFL running backs, I would think a QB would like it back there. He never got the right guy to take them over the top.I dont know about all that.
