Might cut the cord

Funny thing is that I put it on every night and it's really just background noise. Baseball is too slow for me to actually sit and watch it. I guess I can now do the same thing with Suzyn and Dave Sims. I've never been a Michael Kay fan anyways.
Same I usually have it on and do something else. Although I love playoff baseball

I don't watch the yankees anymore because of it.

I bet I am not alone.

Hal and the boys seem to be ok with it but is silly.

Meanwhile Cole out for the year with Tommy John surgery and Stanton already out injured again.
so like $1 a game?

I don't watch the Yankees either and it used to be a HUGE part of my life. It is cost prohibitive and I've found other ways to spend my summer.

You can bundle YES and MSG on the Gotham Sports app for $39, I think. I do it because baseball is inportant to me. I easily piss away $40 each month anyway.

You should check out Verizon's new phone plans. If you switch, they have all sorts of discounts on streaming products - the Disney Bundle for $10/month, which includes ESPN & Hulu, and other services, too - Max, etc. I knocked about $40/month off my Amex bill paying for several streaming services. I get most of them between my cable subscription and my phone plan's add-ons.

I was looking at Verizons new plan. Have several phones about paid for. new plan is about $5 more a month. So in reality 5x12x3 so a new phone for $180. Plus about half off smart watch if I need one. But then that plan will cost me $10 more so now that new cheap phone is really costing me 10x12x3 so 360 + 180.

They tease you into stuff.

I am toying with the idea of a 2nd phone number though.

The discounts do add up. The Disney Bundle is a good deal.

I cut the cord with Spectrum today after 40+ years. I was paying $243 a month for internet and cable. Now I'm going to save about $100 per month with YTTV and T-Mobile internet, and I still get everything I was getting before including Netflix, Paramount and Apple, except for YES and MSG, and I still need to figure MAX out. And I have a separate subscription for Prime so I figure the Yankees will be on there once a week and probably ESPN and/or FOX. And possibly other networks as well.

That is the one thing. They do tease you with their pricing, and add in lots of fees that you don't discover until your first bill. That smart watch for half price? It will wind up being almost $15/month when they add in fees that almost equal your 50% "discount".

I probably sound like an idiot for doing so, but I pay Verizon about that much ($246) for 1 GB fiber to the home Internet (not a shared line to the neighborhood cluster, like Spectrum and traditional cable does).

My Internet powers 3 big screen TVs and about 5 computers running simultaneously playing media without any hiccups. I have all the channels, plus HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc.

And I have the Disney Bundle, Paramount, Peacock, Amazon, Netflix (the one we watch most, honestly). The only one we don't have is Apple TV, which we used to have, but there really wasn't much on it except for Ted Lasso. I don't watch MLS.

It would obviously seem like I'm paying too much, plus $270 on our phones - I also have a 2nd line, but find myself not using it - and two Apple Watches, which I still haven't figured out how to use yet. LOL.

But if I want to see something, I can find it somewhere almost always.

Goto visable, Verizon’s low cost network.

I am not a Yankees fan, but I watch a lot of baseball. I think the Yankees usually find themselves on national tv often enough that you'll still get your fill. Then if they are in contention and you want to add the YES package the last month or two, that's probably what I would do.

Somewhat related to this thread, so I have YTTV and I try to sign into the ESPN app on my firestick with my YTTV credentials so I can watch ACCNX games. It just keeps cycling through the Google log-in screen over and over. It sometimes takes me 20-30 times of doing that before it accepts and lets me watch a game. Anyone else have that experience? Is it any better on a Roku device?

I have Roku and haven't experienced the cycling

Apple TV+ is very under-rated imo. What they lack in quantity they make up for in quality.

My set-up:
Frontier Wi-Fi 1G Fiber: $80
T-Mobile: $120 (includes Apple TV+ and Netflix (Upgraded to No Ads); Also include MLS Season Pass & MLB.TV for free. Since I live out of state, no need for VPN, but certain devices that rhyme with Snapple support it for MLB i’m told.
Amazon: Duh. I don’t even consider this an expense for streaming given how much I use for shipping
ESPN+: $99/year purchased at X-mas
Peacock: $25/year (w/ads);
Paramount w/Showtime: Cycle back and forth depending on season. Will cancel once Yellowjackets end for several months
Hulu w/Max Bundle (includes Disney +):Cycle betwee $30/month (no ads) and $17/month depending on if there’s a must see show on either.
Starz: j/k

Those are some good prices. But I've got a whole set up that I'm kind of addicted to at this point. Everyone finally knows how to use everything in every room! LOL

Another reason to go with YTTV.

so 4 small screens instead of 4 tvs?
It's a nice feature for those who want to be economical like myself :) It's worked well for me so far during the tournament. If a game goes down to crunch time, I usually put that game on full screen and I haven't noticed that I have lost much by missing a few minutes of the other games.

Indirectly related to cutting the cord, does anyone pay for YouTube TV on a Capital One Savor card? Savor provides 3% cash back on streaming services but i was shocked to see YTTV categorized as internet and only 1% cash back on my bill. I called their customer service but got a woman who I believe was in India and unfortunately not particularly helpful.

I bet you she told you several times that your call was very important to her

I’ve tried the paramount+ free month trial through Apple and cancel immediately which still gives you the month.

After the month is over and you don’t subscribe, they send you an email for another free month trial. You can see where I’m going with this

Just a follow up on this issue, YTTV was categorized as phone/cable instead of internet on my May bill, so I got 3% cash back. I didn't feel like I got much accomplished on my couple phone calls to Capital One customer service, but apparently I got more done than I realized :)
