If someone told you 10 years ago that in 2026 Gerry would be coaching Syracuse and Hop would be coaching Siena you would have told that person to lay off the drugs.

Agree it's wild but ya know if true that goes the kind of guy he is. No hubris. College and NFL coaches rise...fall...sometimes get back to the top and some times find alternatives. Honestly good for him if coaching is what he loves and someone gives him a shot.

AW said in a recent interview that while he will always support GMAC, he will continue to provide NIL support to Siena. Had a meeting with their president to that affect and raves about how well he was treated by everyone at Siena. Was at the Siena Duke game.

I would imagine unless SU freezes him out he will continue to support Doty. Loves that kid.

I have a very different perspective than most posters here. I’m a Siena alum and want them to get the best coach possible. For all the reasons people didn’t want Hop at Syracuse, I don’t want him at Siena. As one said ‘why the hell not’? Because he proved he isn’t a good coach! And bring Red and Griff along too? No thanks.
Siena shouldn’t be a halfway house for failed SU coaches.
I hope they do better and find another young coach that’s full of promise and potential.

I would have to think Hop would encourage him to head to SU where success would offer him a higher profile. If he is the meticulous game planner Gerry said, it will show up quickly in how well the team is prepared this season and open job opportunities for him maybe as soon as the following year.

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but with this impending hire, why wouldn’t Siena become a feeder program for Syracuse?

SU is going to want the Doty’s of the world as juniors, not freshmen. Have them recruit a few kids from the HS ranks like Doty or Moesch, stay a year or two, then transfer into SU.
