Larry Costello was an NBA All-Star, winning a title as a player, later coached the Bucks to an NBA title, and ended his career with a fairly long run as coach at Utica College. If something is your passion, you can find a way. It's not sad at all.To me, it’s kind of sad.
Yeah actually…hope this means we get LeeGenius move, Siena.
He would be a huge addition to Gerry’s staff. Not sure how long he’d stay here due to his potential, but he’d be amazing to have even for one season.Yeah actually…hope this means we get Lee
I remember going to some of those games at Utica College. Good times. A group of local college all stars, including some UC guys played the SU seniors at my high school for a couple years.Larry Costello was an NBA All-Star, winning a title as a player, later coached the Bucks to an NBA title, and ended his career with a fairly long run as coach at Utica College. He was also my gym teacher during my freshman year of high school. I like to think that ranks right up there with winning the NBA Championship.Larry Costello was an NBA All-Star, winning a title as a player, later coached the Bucks to an NBA title, and ended his career with a fairly long run as coach at Utica College. His daughter, Leslie, was a real good player on the SU women's tennis team.He was also my gym teacher during my freshman year of high school. I like to think that ranks right up there with winning the NBA Championship.
Don’t forget that he also played for the Wilkes-Barre Barons in the old Eastern Professional Basketball League. I was astounded as a young kid watching him swish baskets from near mid court with his underhanded set shot…Larry Costello was an NBA All-Star, winning a title as a player, later coached the Bucks to an NBA title, and ended his career with a fairly long run as coach at Utica College. Hell of a player. My father talked about him a lot. I remember him coaching that Bucks team with Jabbar, Robertson and Dandridge. Great team.Don’t forget that he also played for the Wilkes-Barre Barons in the old Eastern Professional Basketball League. Coaching matters. You can’t just rely on NIL. Hop is a dynamic personality and a great recruiter, but hasn’t shown himself to be much of a head coach so far. We’ll see.Rumor has it that AW is involved. Hop would kill the MAAC. And leapfrog him into a P4 in two years. A perfect spot for Hop to resurrect his career.
hop had a line that has stuck with me for 25 years at a big brothers/little brothers banquet years ago he was the featured speaker at......said that "kids spell love not L O V E, but T I M E!" Great line never forgot it, good dude, wish him well and nothing but successHappy for Hop. He gets another shot to do something he loves. Hard not to root for him.
