W T eph is wrong with our fans?!?! Why are they so determined to bring in people that are intimately familiar with and products of a failed organization? I want Syracuse basketball to win again and I want it to be coached by someone with a resume that includes winning as HC in college basketball.

What about the last decade of SU hoops is so attractive that we need to keep it going?

Because we’ve don’t have a history of doing that, in any of our sports… Why start now?

Yeah but you’re discounting how watered down the PAC 12 was in Hop’s early years. That second year was his high water mark in KenPom and they were only 48th. Right in the same ballpark as Jimmy’s bubble years from 2015-2021

Hop is a great lieutenant and a mediocre general (it’s a tough gig)

It wasn't watered down yet. All the traditional teams were still there.
Would you say "The ACC is watered down" just because they haven't gotten many tournament bids lately? It's the same logic.

Fair enough but only 3 teams made tournament in his first two years and only one of those teams made it out of the opening weekend. So the conference was down relative to its usual standard.

Taking the perspective of some other rando(s):

• Every college program first looks within, for an alum.
• It may be more optimistic that logical to trust that someone like Hop (or “Jerry”) just needs the right circumstances, and that if they didn’t succeed elsewhere, it’s not necessarily due to flaws or inability or not having the capacity.
• Hopkins was assessed by most of us when he was with us to have had the qualities to succeed at SU had he been given the ‘keys’ on schedule. Those qualities didn’t go away.
• Familiarity is comfortable. And there’s a presumption that ‘one of us’ values the position and isn’t just a mercenary looking to use us as a stepping stone to a different gig after a few years.
• There may not be an attainable consensus alternative.

Whatever “our fans” may be thinking, I don’t think there are enough of them advocating for a Hopkins reunion that it’s worth getting into a lather about.

Mike has been away for a long time. He spent 22 years building those relationships. A lot of coaches change jobs in the 10 years he's been gone.

First of all, he's known as a shady guy. Has a terrible reputation. The Autry comment along is enough to disqualify him from head coach candidacy in my eyes.

Second of all, he's known as a guy who is absolutely full of himself.

Third of all, I have it on good authority that his players do not like him. First-hand account.

Also, he's had less success than Skinn at lower levels. Color me unimpressed.
The hair style alone is reason enough to say no!!

I also like Skinn as my favorite as I just don’t think a Schertz is leaving St. Louis this year. But yeah, I definitely wouldn’t have said it either I don’t disagree by any means on that front just that it shouldnt effect the hiring process and donor opinions much if any, although it’s not my money and just my opinion which everyone will be different on. I just hope when it comes to making the move for the school and program the best candidate both on the court and off the court is chosen and until proven otherwise I’m definitely skeptical. The money to back him up via said donor is a huge factor potentially as you mentioned.
Would a guy like Skinn leave his alma mater

Alex Klein and Ben Franklin are our top recruiters now. The real question is can Hop or any coach for that matter implement a system with a large amount of roster turnover year in and year out. We had the talent this year but the coach couldn’t coach them up in a matter of months.

The Xs and Os are so crucial now. Need a clear structure to then find the right portal fits.
