MLB postseason thread

It was a long game. I couldn't even make it to the end in the Central time zone, let alone everyone in the east. But those do or die games tend to have more pitching changes and Dusty was out there so often you'd think you were watching the MLB Playoffs starring Dusty Baker. I think the pace of play rules they have instituted are fine. I'd hate to say any rules changed as far as strategy just for the reason of making the game quicker, but I understand you have to be careful not to lose fans also.

Six more years, unless Price opts out after 2018, which is unlikely at $30 mil+ through 2022. He's a horse who will give you 220+ innings and still has some big years in him, but the end of that contract will look like Sabathia's.
When Dodgers need to make a move the Sox will trade Price to them. The Dodgers take all the bad Red Sox contracts when they need a boost. I want LA to choke this round just so they want Price as the FA market sucks this year.

It's official. Go Cubs. Go Indians. Let's make this WS fun. Under the radar 68 year drought vs the all too well known 108 year drought.

Come on, the Red Sox aren't trading Price after one year.

You weren't kidding though, that free agent pitcher list is pretty shallow.

Price can't handle East Coast big market. He wasn't even criticized that much as Sox fans have turned into Yankees fans and he has been very sensitive.

I would trade him to the Dodgers and use Andrew Bientiendi or Yoan Moncada to get Chris Sale from the White Sox. Dodgers would take the Price contract as they don't care and Sox could get out of it early.

I'm glad to see Kershaw come through in the clutch to get those last two outs last night. He pitched pretty well in game 4 also until he ran out of gas in the 7th. The guy is just too darn good to have any sort of reputation as a choker so I like to see him do well.

I really don't see Boston trading Price after one year. You may be right about Price not being able to take the heat or whatever, but I think one year is too early for them to bail on that deal. Also I wonder if LA would need Boston to kick in some cash; they could have matched that deal for Price last winter and they didn't.

I think maybe Moncada plus can get you sale, but i feel like you need to come with more than Benintendi? Chris Sale is one of the 5 (?) best pitchers in baseball and he's signed for the next 3 years at like $12 million per year.

How many times can the Sox go to the well to have the Dodgers get them out of their bad long term contracts?

If I'm the Dodgers, it's so transparent that they're not getting much back at all. The last 3 (or so) years of that contract are going to be an anchor.

It wouldn't be straight up. Eduardo Rodriguez, one of Moncada/Bientendeni, and maybe 2 other prospects would get Sale.

Boston has a top 5 farm system.
They could also look at trading Jackie Bradley Jr. for Matt Harvey or a trade like that.

Price to LA is being discussed in Boston's GM rooms. LA was concentrating on Zack Grineke that is why didn't go after Price. LA needs pitching look at their rotation right now after Kershaw.

The Dodgers have money and want to win. The Sox didn't ask them for any real assets thus if the player can help the Dodgers don't care. They still have Carl Crawford on their payroll. The Beckett contract also helped Boston.

Also, the Dodger GM drafted Price in Tampa. There is an obvious fit. It wouldn't shock me if Boston didn't move him now while it is shocking and he is still younger. Boston has the assets to get another stud pitcher.

Cleveland Toronto is going to be an absolute battle. I don't think Donaldson/Bautista/EE/Martin/Tulo can be stopped though, especially with Travis returning and the pitching staff performing at such a high level.

Estrada, Happ, Stroman and Sanchez is deadly as any.

David Price makes more than these 4 combined.

Now you're making me think. (Met fan). My hunch is the Mets won't be selling low on Harvey, but I also have to admit that kind of intrigues me.

Boston definitely has a great farm system. I think it's too early for them to move on from Price is all. They could make a Sale trade and keep Price.

Jays have Michael Saunders, Jose Bautista, and Edwin Encarcanion as FAs. They better win this year as your ownership has been cheap not locking these guys in a year with a weak FA class. These guys and Yoenis Cespedes will be the top FAs.

If Mets should trade Harvey as they aren't paying him in FA and its obvious their is a disconnect between him and the FO. You guys would have to get an all-star type player back. Bradley Jr. would be fair value. He is a gold glove CF who is going to hit 15-30 HRs and in a non-Boston lineup would be a 5th hitter.

I think Boston wants pitching and will trade one of Bientiendi or Bradley Jr. to get it.

I also think Edwin Encarnación will replace David Ortiz as Boston's DH and Toronto will trade for Joey Votto.

Actually the more I think about it the more I love your trade and really doubt that Boston would do it. Harvey is coming off pretty serious surgery and wasn't very good last year.

DO NOT TOUCH Benitendi! That kid is going to replace Pedroia as most beloved in Boston.

Give Price a year and he will come around just like Porcello did this year.

Maybe Cleveland is just really good.

So World Series predictions - I'm going Cubs in 6 over the Dodgers and Toronto over the Indians in 5 for a Cubs-Toronto series.

Dodgers are behind the 8 ball here, I'm thinking Kershaw may not start till game 3? Either way they are max getting 3 starts out of their 2 best pitchers, and the series would have to go deep for that to happen. Cubs in 5 or 6 sounds right. I like Toronto, let's say 7.

I'd love that.

Toronto in 7 over Chicago.

Dang, I'd love to see Andrew Miller in pinstripes again.
