Monroe Madness Day

Did they mention where he might have got it from <tailgate, cough cough>. :D
We told him it wasn’t a good idea to challenge Chestnut’s record so close to the season but Benny was determined. I figure all that stuff will be clear of his system in another week or so.

Peter has quite the potential.

One guy I noticed in both videos is Carey hustling. He was away from the basket in Bunch’s bucket and ran in and was ready for a put back. Then he runs the floor for that fast break bucket. He’s a great mover for 6’11” and can run like a deer.

Yeah that stood out bigtime. Interesting Quadir with the call out and not much said about Judah.

Yup. I had posted those videos back in May or June. Needs to get stronger but moves well. If he has any outside shot, he could possibly grow into a stretch four.

Outside of Mintz he was my favorite recruit.
Honestly no idea if he has the offensive skillset to do so now but he is fluid enough at his size to play the four in the ACC. Like Marek did in the zone, I'm thinking.

I'm really excited to watch him play in the exhibitions.

Donna needs a quick edit.. its Taylor not Thomas Donna.

Good nuggets on Copeland- kid has major potential - it's a scrimmage so can't over analyze but maybe he has really taken a step in his development faster than expected?
Yes I tweeted her about the Thomas/Taylor so I expect it to be corrected shortly.

Random thoughts:

Looked like maybe 1,500 people attended.

For me, the story of the event was Teisha Hyman. Great handle, jaw-dropping passes and put the ball in the basket.

On the men's side, it was Quadir Copeland. Smothered JGIII in the half court, had some good passes, made shots both inside and outside. Quick to the ball.

Disappointed that Benny didn't play (in street clothes, "under the weather").

Jesse scored at will, mostly against Carey. Almost everyone was taking and making outside shots. Main exceptions were JG (early on) and Symir. Taylor made everything he tried. JGIII was 2 out of 3 from 30+

Hima didn't play much.

Judah didn't do much except maybe try a little too hard on offense. Not too many chances for Brown, Bunch, and Carey.

Both men's teams played all M2M for the first half (10-minute running clock) and all zone, 2nd half. Both defenses for both teams looked just OK. M2M somewhat better than the zones.

Overall, if you didn't already know, you'd be able to figure out who the veterans were. Symir, Jesse, and JG seemed calm, confident, and efficient. Everyone else was pressing a little.
