More terrible coaching

Yeah I’ve heard similar. The frustration is palpable. If JB returns I’d be hard pressed to think a coach or two doesn’t leave.
I've been wondering about that. Our assistants have many years of their career in front of them that they need to make sure they are set up to be as successful as possible.

They are in good shape. I want Gmac but Red get the Nod. Gmac get a big raise Devo gets hired and the Legacy continues.

Perhaps deserved? We are Syracuse not Georgia Tech. This is ridiculous.
Unfortunately, we are not what Syracuse used to be. I totally get it, just gets old every comment.

What is positive about this situation ?
Did I say anything about being positive? No. Just stating an observation, I get it. But this board is getting tough to read at times with their ongoing season. I don’t tread it as much as I used to. Negativity is very contagious.

Look I get it RF2044, I do. But the one thing I’d say is that I don’t think any of the current staff is locked into the zone like that. All three had successful M2M situations.

Zone defense is only one small factor in the dysfunction we're seeing play out.

Let's not overlook those other, more important factors. Such as the incumbents being part of the subpar product, recruiting having slipped an increment [or several], and the poor offensive concepts, sets, and execution -- which is shocking, given that we have three former PGs comprising the staff.

All decisions are made by JB and there is very little staff input. On the circuit those three have a very good recruiting rep but have major disadvantages they are trying to overcome. A big part of what you are seeing play out is that we are not on the same page and maybe not even in the same book. It’s hard to buy in fully when you don’t believe the mission

None of which remotely suggests that there is a candidate on staff who can right the ship.

The dysfunction [some of which you describe] is so rampant within the program at this point that a clean break is needed. And when the time comes to replace JB, that's what will happen.

It is amazing how the fanbase's perception has already begun to shift on this issue. It went from a large portion expressing "in JB I trust, he always turns things around" to recognition of how badly things have slipped, in 15 games. And there's no reason to think that things are going to magically turn around next year -- we missed on all of the blue chip recruits we were pursuing, and chances are we'll roll out a similarly unathletic roster next year, minus some of the top scorers from this year's squad.

When the orange blinders are removed, there is no reason to crave continuity at this point -- quite the opposite.

I get it -- it's hard to accept that your baby is ugly, and some posters seem determined to ignore that truth until the bitter end. JB is an all-time great coach. His first ~37 years were incredible. But the last 8 have been a steady decline. All good things eventually must come to an end, and we're rapidly slouching toward the finish line of the JB era.

We can simultaneously celebrate his accomplishments AND acknowledge that he's hung on too long, and that an infusion of new ideas and outside energy is what it's going to take to snap this program out of the malaise we've been mired in. Simple as that.

If GMac can’t talk to JB and JB won’t listen I don’t believe that.

Honestly this is the part that I don't get. There is nothing happening here that hasn't been on display as a gradual decay over the last 7-8 years. It's not like we don't have a historical record to compare to.

Yep. He’ll be back. There will still be a son on the team. And we’ll be worse talent wise than this year because we’ll have portal attrition and won’t replace that adequately.
No kids on the team next year. Buddy has said he is leaving

I can assure you none of the coaches want to play zone. I’ve asked this question numerous numerous times. The exact answer I get is “straight man homie”. Just so everyone is aware

I’ve asked 3 coaches over the years including Hop and 2 current assistants and all 3 said both.

And JB said he was retiring. We’ll see.
Many of you don’t understand why Buddy doesn’t want to come back. JB’s situation is more fluid.
