NBA 2018-2019

Not disagreeing on Celtics depth or that Rozier could be a starter for some teams in the league or that Brown is 22 and was drafted 3rd and is good.

I do strongly disagree and think it is a wild take to say that Kyle Kuzma is not even remotely near the same conversation as Terry Rozier.

Kuzma is only 23 versus Brown's 22 and been in the league one less year. Brown is hurt by the Celtics depth and will be a real nice player in the league for awhile. Kuzma is a pretty good young player too so I don't think there's this huge gap you seem to think there is.

I'm not a Lakers fan and Kuzma must not cross half court and I just don't realize it to say that Rozier's defense makes it so Kuzma is not even in the same conversation as him.
Was more referring to Brown’s defense in that aspect. Terry Rozier can and has led a playoff contending team for at least a period of time. I’d be more than happy losing Kyrie and keeping Rozier as the primary assuming we get a big FA forward while keeping Smart. Doubt that happens though.

Agreed, Brown's a great defender and much better than Kuzma on that end. Will be interesting what happens with the Celtics. There's a very wide opportunity set on how they look on opening day next year. Could have Kyrie and AD or could have neither.

For what it's worth, I can't stand the Celtics but I'd probably take Brown over Kuzma too. I do think it's pretty close though. Ingram/Lonzo are definitely significantly more valuable than Rozier/Smart though. If I were New Orleans, I'd rather just not get Rozier or Smart unless Rozier signs a cheap contract. I'd rather just save my money than take either of them on the contract that Smart has and the contract that it seems like Rozier wants. I think Brown, the picks, and Horford's expiring contract (or if they feel like gambling, Hayward) is still a competitive offer though.

Obviously New Orleans is really hoping for Tatum if they trade Davis to Boston though.

You can definitely argue Brown over Kuzma. My issue was the part about Kuzma not in conversation with Rozier (who I love) and Brown. That's just irrational, to put it lightly.

Celtics fans overvalue their own like no other fan base in the league. I still remember when I lived there ~10 years ago and I'd hear people tell me with complete conviction that the Hawks should trade Josh Smith straight up for Big Baby back when Smith was in his prime and Big Baby was a reserve on the Celtics.

Kuzma not "even remotely near the same conversation" as TERRY ROZIER may be the new all time high though.
I think Rozier could replace Kyrie and the Celtiics would still motor on. He's a good player.

This is the final year of his rookie deal and we're still waiting for him to hit 40% shooting for a season. There's probably at least 60 PGs between Kyrie and Rozier.

Jazz and Grizzlies reportedly discussing a deal that would send Ricky Rubio + more (maybe Favors?) to Memphis for Mike Conley.

Didn't say he was better than Kyrie - I claim that the Celtics would operate just fine with Rozier as their PG even if he is by your account the 61st best PG in the league.

That would be a great deal. Utah isn't doing a damn thing with cap space, might as well spend the $30m on Conley for a pretty solid upgrade.

They've been significantly worse whenever Rozier is on the floor every season of his career, even before they got Kyrie.

According to PER there is only 40 between them so watch the hyperbole!

Im not sure about that considering we almost made it to the ‘ship last year with Rozier. Maybe some series would have been shorter had kyrie been healthy though :)

Kyrie on resigning “I don’t owe anyone sh-“

Ok, see ya. Between him and KD I can’t decide who deserves a mess like the knicks back office more.

Rozier has not been that good this year. He's been significantly worse than last year.

I just like the Celtics players better than what the Lakers have to offer from every perspective. Doubt any of them will be happy about being dealt to NOLA, in fact I am sure they won't but I like the culture of the Celtics that these young guys have been involved in much more than the Lakers as well. probably get 2-3 guys that were involved in a deep playoff run versus a culture of losing with the Lakers. Just my 2 cents.

Rookie year: -10.2 points per 100 possessions
Sophomore: -4.1 points per 100
Third Year: -2.7 points per 100
This Year: -9.5 points per 100

And literally none of his other numbers suggest he's even an average player at this point.

Having said that, just to reiterate, I still think the Celtics can potentially top the Lakers' best offer. I just personally wouldn't be interested in Rozier or Smart unless Rozier ends up signing at a far cheaper cost than most predict.

The younger players and Kyrie + hayward’s recuperation aren’t meshing.

I know who I want to go.

I do too simply because Tatum has the highest chance of anyone to become a perennial all-star type player. Before this season I may have put Ingram slightly behind Tatum but now that gap has widened a bit.

The Pels just can't move Davis without getting someone that is damn near guaranteed to reach at least all-star level. The Lakers deal is basically offering 4 quarters for a dollar. They need at least a 50 cent piece back in this deal.

The best player on the team? Good luck getting Davis to stick around without Kyrie there.

No one said he’s as good as Kyrie. Thing is they still win games with him in.

I can’t disagree with that but Kyries interviews this year have been bordering insufferable.

List 10.
NY Knicks
Atlanta
Chicago
Cleveland
Orlando
Phoenix
Detroit
LA Clippers
Indiana- he is better than Tyreke Evans
Memphis- he would be the second best guard on team.

This was a response to saying that the Celtics aren't in fact worse when he's on the floor. They undoubtedly are. Again, there's nothing out there to suggest that he's even an average player.

Again when he starts his numbers are good. When Kyrie plays his numbers are medicore.
Celtics have rotation problems.
It’s why they need to make a trade.
