Congratulations to Chris. But it is amazing--nothing against the guy, but I feel zero connection to him as a SU fan. Hardly even knew you, Chris. But I hope you have a great career.

Feel the exact same way.

I feel like sh-t for Rak not being a first round pick.

It shows how flawed the "system" is that a big capable of having a 10+ year solid career doesn't go in the first round. Stinks.

But he'll latch on, no matter where he lands. Just wish he would have the opportunity to get a guaranteed contract.

Crap!

Disappointed for Rak. The system is flawed when a guy like McCullough [and several other late first round picks] get selected over a better prospect who is a bit older.

Can't wait for Rak to prove the critics wrong.

I cannot speak for these other players but CMac showed nothing in college. This will lead to more bad decisions.

Getting drafted in the 2nd Round worked out well for Jerami Grant last year and while that's not the norm, I see Rak as a guy who this could work out in the same manner for.

As far as McCullough goes, stop qualifying your happiness for him by saying Rak should've gone before him and "that's what's wrong with this". We all love Melo... It's not Chris's fault he got hurt and played for us in a tourney ban season. Teams are going to draft a high potential player 95% of the time over a backup role player. Rak is the man but he's a backup PF/C. McCullough "could" be a stud.

Agreed. So much passive aggressiveness in this thread

I know a lot of SU fans were convinced Rak was a first round lock but it just doesn't work that way. The more they see you the less they like you. You're better off going to play in Papa New Guinea after HS.

Rak SHOULD have gone before him.

I have no "happiness" for Chris, nor much of any emotional valence, given that he barely played at SU. He might have "upside," but there are hundreds of guys like CMac who bust. Rak has serviceable, journeyman big written all over him. The system is flawed when an unproven guy gets drafted while equally athletic / stronger / more explosive prospects like Rak and Harrell slip to the second round.

But that's why teams like the Brooklyn Nets perpetually suck.
