NBA Thread 2019-20 Season

Lol Van Gundy blaming playing through Melo on Dame's struggles. Umm I doubt it.

LOL. He had it backwards. Dame and CJ were kindve forcing it in the 4th. Most of those were tough shots. Lakers defense was dialed in.

Melo was cooking. When he gets like that, you can ride him. He’s a good enough passer that if they start doubling, he can find guys. It’s not how they usually play long term, but...possibly would’ve been the way to go tonight?

Yep. This is the difference between a Dame/CJ backcourt and a Steph/Klay backcourt. I am not equating them as shooting wise there is obviously a separation but GS would ride other guys ( pre-Durant) when they had the hot hand. Dame/CJ haven't learned even as stars to defer for more than short windows of time. Both are great and can make crazy shots but tonight was one of those times where when you have a guy like Melo for a reason so take advantage of him having a throwback type of game. He could go for 30 plus still when he is really on like he showed in the third.

He lives to troll. His entire routine is to try and make himself and his career seem far more important than it is/ever was. Only thing he can do is troll people to get attention.

Yup. Back when he was on ESPN he would mix in some good points and actual solid basketball talk though, to go with his attempts to get attention and stubborn wrong rants where he’d just dig in.

He’s really unraveled and killed any shreds of credibility that he might’ve had left, in recent years.

It’s pretty obvious that the NBA does not want Portland or Dallas knocking out the LA teams, let alone both of them.
If the refs are trying to help the Clippers, they’re not doing a very good job.

Sucks to see, but this is just basically what the Dame/CJ backcourt does. If they're hot, they'll be competitive, but if they aren't, they're gonna lose pretty much every time. The Warriors can survive an off game from one of Steph/Klay because even if they aren't shooting well, you know Klay will be defending his butt off, both guys will be moving and putting so much pressure on the defense that it opens things up for their teammates.

If Dame or CJ's jumpers aren't falling, they pretty much aren't doing anything for you. Steph is nothing special defensively, but Klay is and Steph is at least very active in passing lanes. Dame and CJ are both just total lazy liabilities defensively and they don't really move all that much offensively; they basically just try to break their man down the whole time so it just turns into inefficient offense if they aren't hitting contested jumpers.

i don’t understand these comparisons between GSW and Portland .. they’re not in the same stratosphere when healthy

Lakers are going to wear their black jerseys tomorrow to honor Kobe on 8-24 Mamba Day.

Ejecting KP Game 1 was some of the worst officiating in the Playoffs that I have ever seen. Dallas should’ve been up 2-0 in that series.
They called the exact same technical fouls on the Clippers.

The Clips Milton Berled that game and would have won anyway.

Man, that Harris fall was nasty. Could see some blood on the court. His head went right into the court with nothing to break that momentum. Scary. Good to see him walk off.

First time in Boston-Philadelphia playoff rivalry that one side was swept.

Simmons being out was huge - he would’ve guarded Tatum better than anyone else could hope to.

I'll give the Sixers credit for not totally packing it in and being ready to go home from the bubble, but glad the Celtics took care of business.
Embiid quit.
Harris and Horford played hard till the end.

Embiid couldn’t even bother to try and not move his body all the way down the court in transition.
That steal by Smart where Embiid and Tatum were even and the Tatum ran down and dunked and Embiid wasn’t even at the foul line by the dunk.
Embiid needs to get into shape. It was eye opening how lazy he was on defense in pick and rolls.

I wonder with this pandemic if Jay Wright doesn’t take the 76ers job.
He would get to stay home and it’s got some talent he isn’t taking bad job.

But he’ll only be there for a few years before replacing JB. ;)
