Harden skipped the Rockets first practice today. Apparently he was out last night. Trying to force their hand?

Agreed. And stop turning the ball over 11 times and shooting 4-22 in elimination games. And play defense. And stop standing there watching when you don’t have the ball.
Wait, there are times when he doesn’t have the ball?

def trying to force their hand.

also, not judging bc it’s a free country, but his lifestyle choices with partying have been rumored to be why OKC was reluctant to keep him around (easier to do when you got KD and Russ). Also, wasn’t his being sick when he played Cuse in the tourney potentially a hangover?

If I’m Houston I’m just waiting until the mother lode is offered and shipping him out.

Eh.

You can judge in a free country.

What would the Nets offer for Harden? Dinwiddie, Lavert, Allen and how many draft picks? They may just have to move on at this point. start over and get on with it

I think there would have to be a third team at this point for the Nets to make something work. I don't think the Nets have what the Rockets want and you cannot go 4 quarters for a dollar here.

Honestly, if the Rox want picks, I'm not sure where to look for any of the teams that Harden would want.

If they want at least an all star / all nba person back I would look to either Philly (but I don't think Simmons fits with Wall and I don't think they are giving up Embiid) or I think they look to the clips and ask for PG13 and Lou back. I mean, it's not Harden, but Wall (if he's even remotely healthy) and PG13 keep you competitive and maybe that is where Fertitta's head is at now. PG13 I think would have to commit to extending his deal (not sure if they could sign an extension for PG13 and do a sign and trade or whatever).

Calling all Boston fans... The only other option would be to offer Jaylen Brown and parts/picks if you thought Harden / Tatum could be the duo that puts you over. I cannot imagine Boston doing that, but with Ainge, I wouldn't be surprised if he picked up the phone at least.

Harden in Boston is a bad fit.
It would cost Brown and Smart.
I don’t do that.
If only cost Brown maybe but I like Jayden Brown as a glue guy on a championship contender.

The Ben Simmons + filler for Harden has to be the final deal.
Houston gets an all star and Harden goes to Philly.

I mean... this makes the assumption that Garden's value is $1.

Maybe despite his production, the other stuff around him is making teams think they're ok to pass. Maybe a little Dwight Howard superstar nobody wants to deal with phenomenon.

I get it, but he's a one-man wrecking crew when it comes to offense. He's finished in the following place for MVP since he left OKC: 8, 5, 2, 9, 2, 1, 2, 3.

I still think he should try to push for the Clips. Go back home. Kawhi wants a ball handler to come in.

We're talking about a guy who can finish top 30 player of all time, top 5 in scoring and should have a chip if CP3 didn't get hurt.

I think Lebron beats that Rocket team even with a depleted Cleveland roster.

Theoretically Brooklyn could redirect some of their young guys to OKC for some of their picks if OKC wanted to help make the trade happen, but honestly, I think the Brooklyn offer straight up for Harden might interest Houston if they actually want to blow the team up (which I tend to think remains unlikely).

If they simply want a good player that can keep the team afloat with Wall, I'd happily send them Middleton and whatever other salaries are needed to make it work but I would imagine it's pretty much Brooklyn or nobody.

I can't imagine they are going for guys that are capped at borderline all star level or rotational guys.

I think it's either a huge amount of picks or a legit potential all nba guy coming back. That's why I keep saying PG13. While he stunk in the playoffs, he can still play and if you want to just be competitive for the playoffs, that will do it for you.

Yeah, I could see the PG13 thing being a possibility as well. I'm sure they're good enough to make it work, but I'm not sure Kawhi and Harden are actually a good fit together. It's roughly the right level of return on a Harden trade though if Houston is looking to blow it up.

One potentially major issue with it though is PG can hit free agency next offseason if he wants.

Agree. That Cavs team was awesome.

Forget it, I got my years wrong. The 2017 team was awesome. 18, depleted is more the word. Would probabl;y lean Houston

Just funny to me that Durant felt like he didn’t get enough credit for the Warriors titles because he played with Steph and Klay and now is trying to do the same thing in Brooklyn.

That's because people are by and large irrational weirdos.

Then take one that's a physical oddity compared to the rest of the human race and uniquely talented at something that provides exorbitant fame and fortune, and, well...

I think it's more the fact that he joined arguably the best team ever to try to win the title. Totally different from signing with a meh team and pulling the strings to build it into a contender.

In the grand scheme of things it really isn’t that much different. I like KD, but if Harden joins him I plan on hating hard.

Harden with Irving just doesn’t fit unless Harden is okay being a real 3rd banana.

Kyrie can be set off by 1 bad game.
Harden also doesn’t have the leverage other stars have. He has 2 years left in his deal. He can’t tank a franchise that has done everything for him for 2 years.

The Lakers are winning the title this year.
Milwaukee is one player away from competing with them.
