NBA Thread 2021-22 Season

I watched his presser. They didn’t include everything he said in that tweet and the it’s not nearly as bad as it came off on the Internet.

Look at my post in #669 that was posted shortly after I posted that initial tweet that I caught on another forum.

For some reason this site does not allow for two tweets to be pictured in one post even (one will show as a link), and as you said there is a lot of additional context that largely diminishes the initial comment.

Here is tweet #2 in the chain.and it continued to even more context after that.

Agreed, it was actually 100% spot on and respectful too the two guys he was talking about. Tatum is streaky but he's been bad for first 6-7 games and he shoots A LOT.
I'm not sure saying that they need to learn to pass the ball is really a respectful thing to say, but maybe it's a necessary thing to say? I'm not even really sure about that; at least maybe not saying it to the cameras. This seems like one of those examples of "Maybe don't be so forthcoming with reporters and handle your stuff in house". Granted, maybe he's already tried to handle it in house and frustration is starting to boil over. I don't know. But that was definitely some shots fired at Tatum & Brown (and Udoka for that matter).

Boston's in sort of a tricky spot with these two. They're obviously both extremely talented, but they are objectively very limited as passers and yet you want the offense to be run through them. Kawhi sort of went through this development when he was younger too; even in the San Antonio offense that functioned so beautifully, he was a poor passer that didn't really understand how to create for anyone outside of himself. It took him like 6 years before he started to show real progress in that regard and now he's become one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league because his passing ability complements his shot making. Probably a bit trickier in this case because both of the guys you've built the team around need to go through that development.

On the flip side, Smart has been know to throw up some rough 3 pointers as well. Have to imagine the Celtics and Stevens tried to trade Smart over the off season. I am just asking but these seem like the same type of headaches that sent Stevens to the front office after last year? The other thing is does anyone really know if Udoka has the chops to be a HC? Maybe that's one of the issues too he needs time to get his feet on the ground as well. Just seems like chaos already

Brown has been better than Tatum so far and will always be the better defender. Tatum will right the ship and get hot though. he's streaky. Not sure Brown wants to be the robin of the two stars though.

On a separate topic- Melo is balling out big-time so far early season. Two games he has essentially been critical to win.
I thought before the season that melo possibly wining a title with the Lakers would be a nice story as he does his bit part to help the team .. but now I think for them to win he’s going to have to be a major contributor.. if they win .. his contribution ain’t going to be some small cherry on the top ..

No doubt. Monk is way too up and down. Melo is the only legit outside shooter they have.

Ellington, Nunn, and Ariza should all help in that regard when they’re back.

But yeah, Melo is looking like he’ll be the leading bench scorer more often than not, and will likely be out there in crunch time most of the time.

Yeah. With those three just comes down to how healthy they can be through the season as well.

AD’s resisted playing center, but it’s clearly where he needs to be.

Yup. Only time Jordan/Howard should be in the game is when Davis is out.

2 bigs with Russ/Bron just doesn’t work well.

Russ/Bron/Davis with two other guys that can shoot works a lot better.

Took my son to the Hawks game tonight. They are still a fun team to watch. We were scoreboard watching as well. Looked like the Bulls were down and down big for most of the game.. then all of a sudden late he said Daddy look the Bulls are winning... and they ended up winning. He also got to meet Nique after the game which was the cherry on top.
Imagine being the Hawks having a back to back at Nets last night and home tonight vs the Jazz. Two tough opponents. Glad to see Red Velvet had a good game last night after struggling but then sitting out a game to rest.

Pretty sweet vest for Thurl Bailey who does the color on the Jazz TV games.

Yeah, Kevin sat out Monday night. I was hoping to see him live and in action.

NBA opening investigation into toxic corporate environment of the Suns… which raises the question .. how long into the fact finding before John Gruden gets what’s coming to him?

Well he is defending well to be fair. So far Melo is holding up his end as well.

Yet they beat Houston by 1 despite all that and Houston had 24 TO and shot pathetically …then tonight they lost AGAIN.. to the vaunted Thunder ..

Typical Jazz game. Wear down your opponent until they cry uncle. Without Mitchell, the Jazz looked lost after scoring only 15 in the 1st quarter, but Clarkson ended his 0-23 three point streak in a big way and the Jazz scored 77 points in the 2nd half to go to 7-1. Next up at the Heat on Saturday who might be shorthanded if Lowry is out.
