Which brings up an interesting point. We know football had the Inflategate issue and, I believe, home and away each has their own footballs which they can set up within parameters.
Baseballs has had issues with raising and lowering seams on the ball which can impact feel and number of dingers hit. Pitchers can also take a ball out of play if they don't like the feel of the ball.
Golfers each have their own golf ball which they have selected based on optimum distance/spin. Bowlers obviously have their own ball to their specs.
I would assume the NBA rolls out a new ball for each game although I am not certain. I would guess, without looking it up, the NBA ball must be a certain weight or a small variance.
College is probably different in that they probably reuse the same ball for more than one game. I believe they could use different models as well. Didn't Syracuse use "the Rock"? Is that ball still around?
I guess that leaves hockey as the only sport that hasn't had an issue. Although with sticks being so much lighter and more durable, did hockey ever modify the puck? It would awesome to know that the small vulcanized piece of rubber is the same puck that was used 100 years ago during the original six.
I couldn't imagine basketball using the same old slippery leather ball that was used back in the early days.
