NCAA Coach Salaries (USA Today)

So for 1.5 plus another 1.5 for Staff we can retain Dino. 10k more per game @ 6 games = 60k more per year at even 100.00 per = 6m. Plus publicity ect... No brainer.

are we sure his numbers are accurate? it's a private university so how much of this info is available? I would think they could fold in all sorts of other bonuses to his salary structure as a private university.

*I find it hard to believe that Brian Kelley at ND is making a few million bucks a year.

On the surface, Babers is making more than Brian Kelly at ND.

Let that sink in.

Take half the allotment above and utilize it to get fannies in the seats, and we'll be able to keep Babers for as long as we want.

If our attendance doesn't improve with the performance, why should anyone really want to stay?

That's old information. That was his salary when he first got here.

Hahaha yep I'm sure it just that simple....

Why did Rutgers give Ash a 10m buyout?

the big thing from this is people think he is leaving soon if he does well.. look up the list and remove the stable coaches

Ill #13 not sure he wants his style in the B10
Lou #25 lost the big donor and huge buyout
Ark #36
Iowa St #38 huge buyout
UCLA #40
Pitt comeon not going to pitt
USC #47
UNC #50

anyone else is already below us and would have to jump up and we not match it and he needs to start over.
the ACC is a real good fit/ good not great and we have the dome.

We just need to bump a little to be top 40

Assuming this is accurate (for Dino)...

After this season is over (he's said in the past he won't discuss such matters during the season), Wildhack has to - at a minimum - bump him and his assistants up to AT LEAST the $3M / year level that GaTech, Pitt, and NCState are paying.

BARE MINIMUM.

Ideally, they pony up and get him up to Bronco territory ($3.5M) with correspondingly large buyout ($18M)

Don't think we necessarily need to go all the way up to $4M like Llvll (Cheatrino), VaTech (Fuente) or The U (Richt) did, but that's likely the hard ceiling.

My 'vote' would be for $3.5 or $3.6M / year, corresponding bump for all assistants, and incentive bonuses for wins/bowls/being ranked/APR/whatever.

That's a 50% increase, which honestly - he's earned.

Think about the costs ($, rep, culture, starting over, uncertainty, etc) of having to move on from Dino, and it makes the decision to PAY THAT MAN HIS MONEY become a very simple one.

Money may not even be in the top 3 reasons if Dino does eventually decide to leave. If he and more importantly his staff is paid fairly I think he would be fine, but the following will be the determining factor, but
resources - (Facilities, housing, recruiting budget, etc), and fan support will most likely be ahead of money.

Are you saying UCLA, Arkansas and Iowa State count as unstable? I'd say neither of those change in at least 3 years. At least.

Illinois and UNC will almost certainly open, but would he want either if he's worried about fan support during the re-build?

USC went on a the cheap with Helton, but they could pay a lot more, and likely will if they make a change. But I think he's going to get more time to let this true freshman QB develop.

Agree on Pitt.

It's likely accurate. Even private schools have to report publicly their top five salaries on the IRS-990.

no buyout is shown so his contract has other things not mentioned in this public accounting. I assume he has some sort of buyout no?

I still don't get the Brian Kelley compensation at all. If he's paid 2mm ish, then Dino has no beef with where he is IF the school will up the salaries w the support staff. I assume ND pays assistants well.

Yep.

The housing piece worries me a little. I think facilities are going to be a positive when the Dome project is complete. Recruiting budget is simple to fix. But the housing piece hasn't been mentioned.

Fan support will come and go with wins -- hopefully. Wish it would happen right away but understand (a little) the reluctance. Also have to take into consideration, as some have already mentioned, that basketball is a huge draw and is primed for a big year. Only so much disposable income to go around.

$100 gets you in the dome for 6 games with good seats for fball.. $100 gets you 1 game for bball and sometimes like the duke game is $200 to get an awful seat

I was talking to an intern at my work and he knows people who live on the same floor as the QBs in one of those swanky new apartment buildings. Housing is fine

Although Syracuse pay is roughly 500% or more greater than Bowling Green, $3.6 sounds reasonable, but we also have to have competitive facilities. Attendance will follow, just as it does in b-ball.

Its been reported dino makes $2.4 before. Came from syracuse tax returns. I think we could up dino to $3.5 and extend him. Put incentives to get it over $4m.

no way he would ever go to Illinois, it is a crap job.

ND has historically been very cheap on coaching salaries. (Charlie Weis, notwithstanding).

Defensive coordinator Mike Elko left ND after for Texas A&M after two seasons because ND would not go higher than $1.7 million per year for him.

I'd be surprised to see Syracuse ante up that much without a specific threat from a poaching school. We don't historically pay big money. I can't imagine Dino is leaving unless he gets into that 5mm world and we won't compete there (i don't think). School actually runs a budget and doesn't have T Boone to write a check.

We need to be ready for his departure if his desire is to be paid 5mm per annum. I would hate this just feel like the smoke about the attendance will be the named excuse underlying the gigantic pay raise for him and his lieutenants

I believe that Brian Kelly gets money from private donors and outside contracts, as well. FWIW, this link has his total pay at $4 million a year.

Should bump to 4 million dollar level comparable to Virginia Tech and Miami. If we beat Florida State and Clemson in 2019, he deserves being paid the same as Florida State coach.
