ND Postgame Discussion

How many times did we hit the guy after 2 yards and he pushed us for 3 more. We just weren’t ready to play today. Maybe health I don’t know, Just was a weak performance against a team I loathe.

They just "Big Boy'd" us. Part of it was that we (i.e., the LBs) were tackling too high. When you try to hit a runner in the chest, if he's lower than you, he'll have the leverage and drive you backward on the tackle.

You might notice that part of why our NT is so effective is because he tackles low. So do our cornerbacks; they wrap the legs.

Also, they have a big line who were focused on literally pushing the pile forward against us at every opportunity.

We forced enough punts plus an INT to give us a chance. Half their points were gifts from our coaching staff.

I want other teams to try this formula, because it will blow up in their faces.

Assuming Dino plays the right QB, of course.

How the hell did Marshall and Stanford beat them at home no less.

Teams are often inconsistent. Consistency is certainly a challenge with college aged players.

It’s called being human.

The only people I know who are perfect week in and week out are posters on this forum who have all the answers every week.

I know, it’s a heavy burden , being perfect.

Let other teams try and smash mouth us. It won’t work.
Only team i’m worried about on the schedule with it is Pitt. Average almost 200 yards on the ground.

So what’s your take on the game

I don’t think their rushing attack is better than Clemson’s or ND’s.

Team laid a giant egg. Not many positives other than CDRW flashing a bit in his backup appearance.

Coming into the game I was worried about ND style of play on offense. It just exposes are weakness on defense. Just a bad match-up from that stand point. I didn't expect our offense to struggle so much in the first half. If GS can't use his legs then he needed to be benched early on maybe even before the game.

Israel Abanikanda is a beast. Going to go over 1k yards already tonight. O line is huge. They’re very capable of doing what ND did.

Then we’ll be 6-7 pt road dogs next week.

Speaking of bruising RBs, I have not been impressed by Tucker at all this year. He’s been playing with that thigh bruise from game 1 and he’s not the same threat. He used to be sooo good to get positive yardage after contact. That’s what made him special.. and it helped put our offense ahead of the sticks. He’s been avoiding contact all year. He’s been ok but Can’t understand why Allen and Price can’t get some run.

Couldn’t see the game, I only got ESPN drive updates. Tucker did nothing. Again.

My assumption with Allen is that he is too small at the moment and goes down easy when hit. Also possibly not adept at pass blocking, hasn’t played enough for me to tell. Can’t believe we don’t have a #2 that can pass block and be called upon for more than a play at a time. Another head scratcher for this year.

Tucker had 16 carries for 60 yards and 1 TD, and 4 catches for 32 yards.

It was tough sledding trying to run up the middle today. Tucker had success when he could get to the edge.

ND had a masterful game plan. They knew our d-line was injured and undersized so they just ran us to death between the tackles. It seemed like every first down ended in 2nd and 5. Clemson didn’t figure this common sense approach out until the 2nd half of our game.

The only positive from this game is that I’m no longer going to obsess over the Clemson game for the rest of my life.
