Who doesn't think that GMac was brought in because he pretty much salvaged the team's winning record in his senior season through sheer guts? And the ability to score threes? And the hope that he could TEACH players how to do the latter better?

As for recruiting, he'd obviously help in Pennsylvania. How much range a Scranton kid has there I don't know.

I mean, he's a career 35% from three. He just shot a lot of them. We could've probably done better if we brought him in to teach 3 pt shooting g.

I would agree with you if Quade was the only guy GMac lost out on, but that isn't the case. He swung and missed as the lead on a few main targets. One of whom was a McDonald's AA from PA who grew up an SU fan, plays a serious position of need, had us in his top final group and a few weeks before his predetermined commitment date said he didn't know if Syracuse was recruiting him still because he hadn't hear from us in awhile.

I don't think GMac has proven much at all as a recruiter but what I get annoyed about is that we keep sending him to take the lead over more experienced and proven people on the staff.

It's not an "agenda" when people state facts and I know you weren't the poster who called it an agenda.

Was that when we were restricted about which coaches could ACTUALLY recruit? Like only two instead of all of them?

Sounds to me that SU (JB and the ACs) cooled on that prospect. That's how it's done. They rarely call the guy and tell him they aren't recruiting him anymore.

That's nobody's fault. That's a conscious decision.

Maybe not. Nobody knows but you would agree if your going to put all your eggs in the basket for one recruit you should use your best coaches to handle that recruitment? Right?

Quade Green was the only PG we really pursued this cycle and we put GMac on the lead with the guy instead of the HCIW. That was the mistake. I don't blame GMac for losing to Calipari.

I am trying to be polite because saying anything to you results in a lecture where you are smarter than whoever you are responding. Dealing with your posts is a discipline in itself as saying anything gets an auto response from you. I was going to respond to another point you made to somebody else but I stopped myself realizing that debate with you is pointless.

I think his percentage would be closer to 40% if he hadn't almost been playing 1 on 5 at times. Or at least 3 on 5. The 2006 season was brutal.

One thing that should be said about G-mac. He did get a commit from Green. I don't know why Green flipped but at least gmac got that much. As little as it is.

With GMac I think it is less about the Green recruitment and more about what people feel about him as a recruiter and Green gives people the opportunity to say it. I mean it's not like it's the first time UK has swooped in and flipped a kid. There is really no shame in that especially when as the kid did it he is tweeting about GMac being his guy. He obviously picked UK over Syracuse and not Cal over GMac or whoever. I think the issue is that GMac doesn't have the outgoing personality and the ability to really relate to kids with being dynamic and all that. It least that is the impression people have of his personality.

I like Griff and think he will be a good addition as a coach and recruiter. He has coached and multiple places from St Francis to Providence and Dayton so I think he has been on multiple other staffs and I don't buy the Syracuse guy brings nothing new argument. Hopefully he can help in recruiting NYC and I think he is a really hard working as s player and coach and he is a great person which I think is something we should bring up.

We have had multiple missed on kids that wanted to come here or had reasonable interest we didn't offer or show necessary attention. Examples are Monte Morris, Jaquan Newton, jalen Brunson. This last year you can add the Matt Coleman and Lonnie Walker to the list. The idea is that it's not about scholarship reductions but offering the wrong kids like BJ Johnson, Kaleb Joseph and Ron Patterson instead of the above.

I do stand up these days mostly on Twitter, because I'm too ill to perform in clubs and have been too ill for close to three years. Twitter is great because it's almost impossible for someone to steal your material because Twitter time stamps the first time you create a joke.

I have to say that unless you are one of the REALLY big schools, with shall we say CERTAIN REPUTATIONS for not being frugal, almost every school and its fan base will complain about the recruits who disappointed them. It's just the nature of recruiting and even the big schools have kids who transferred because they were promised they would start by say sophomore year but they barely got off the bench that year because they were recruited over.

As for BJ Johnson and Ron Patterson, they were victims of the scholarship debacle. BJ had a very good year at his A-10 school and that's a tough league to play in. Ron Patterson may or may not have made a leap if he had been able to stay on the team. And Kaleb wasn't expecting to be our starting PG as a freshman, but his predecessor was drafted in the first round so Kaleb did his best. That he didn't improve in his sophomore year might have been in part due to the fatigue level of playing 35 minutes a game when you should have been playing 10-15 minutes. You don't necessarily get a chance to rest in the summer because you have to play in leagues or you get rusty.

That's my instant analysis without getting to the recruiting board. Feel free to rebut my points.

Heh. Some people don't really look at the photo closely and others here have called me male names so perhaps they think my name is AndreW.

I wouldn't make such a big deal about gender if the other females here have gone for the most part. When is the last time you saw BBeadle orLlandz post? Even the women moderators don't post here much and that makes me believe they may feel it's a hostile environment.

FWIW many male posters have disappeared too.

Message boards in GENERAL have been more strident lately, even Linked In the alleged professional website!
